wauu!!! Nice car picture!!

MJB 07-06-2012 07:12 AM

Just wanted to show you guys some pics of my progress. My goal is to go from 3300lbs down to around 3000lbs even. If I can get it down to 29xxlbs, even better! So far I would say I've taken about 200lbs off the car.

I'm probably going to keep the dash and center console along with the carpet. I took the passenger seat out (about 40lbs) along with the door panels, speaker... even took the radio out.

I know my light weight battery is ghetto rigged in there, but I plan on relocating it to the trunk with a proper mount.

And since I took out most of the interior plastics, I found a new place to mount the Nismo plaque. Fits pretty well here

Hopefully it will be a track car. As of now I'm working in Texas till next year. My home is in Wa state... So it's really hard to do anything with the car right now. But in the mean time I just want a really light weight street car. I was inspired when I saw a YouTube video of this newer lotus... Yeah it didn't have as much power as the nismo but the car only weighed like 2700lbs and was really quick. I know I'll never get my car that light but if I could shave around 300lbs and have full bolt ons, it would be a beast!

lighter wheels... lighter exhaust will help you as well. OH! and some carbon fiber will help, just color match it.

MJB you will get sick of the noise inside after a month. not to mention the added heat especially in texas. i did this to a few cars while growing up, even the nismo for a week before i did my stereo install. going the light weight route is something you go all out and do or not at all. for a daily driver that you want to take people/dates around town in its not practical, but it is kinda fun for a week or two.

It's not a big deal, like I said I hope to track it once I get back home to Wa state. I had my old 350z this way as well. Plus my nismo isn't a daily driver, jus a weekend/nice weather toy.

MJB,

This is a cool idea for the Nismo. The lighter weight will be nice for making it faster.

thats second pic of the red nismo gave me a head ache @.o

Nuki 07-18-2012 02:49 AM

babbagandu... NOICE!!! That look is very similar to what I'm going for with mine. The plastidip I think will work until I get the wheels and door handles powdercoated (I like the flat black look of the plastidip, but I really wanna do a gloss black). Love how you did the lights all smoked out. Thanks for the pics, because now I have a better idea of what mine will look when its done.

Suitepee, that pic is great. The light is shining so bright you can almost get an idea of what the wheels would look like if they were pc'ed white. Surprisingly, I think it would look pretty damn good.
EDIT: Awesome detailing job, that sucker looks clean enough to be a mirror.

It probably is touched up. Look at the purple highlights around the lights and emblems.

As far as getting your car looking good. A serious wash and wax can go a long ways, then just get a really nice DSLR camera and learn some basic photography.
