Default Is The Key Fob Waterproof?

Did laundry left key fob in pocket. Washer just filled with water. I thought ****, too late. Got it out, wiped it off, then took it apart. It was completely dry inside! I was shocked. And it still works.

good to hear. i've washed and dried USB thumb drives and had them work before. Basically, as long as it doesn't short circuit it should be ok, but i wouldn't make it a regular practice. Does it smell nice now?

I have washed 2 things my entire life in the laundry and still worked after.

It would be a Cell phone and a garage door opener.

I have also spilled tons of water and noodle juice alll over my keyboard. I washed it and it worked after.

i wouldnt go and start washing your keyfobs. it still has a circuit board and battery, so it will short circuit. im just guessing the keyfob is decently sealed to protect against accidents.

I'm sure it's water resistant and not water proof. Just be glad it still works.

Also, do not put your floor mats in the washing machine. Someone once did that hahahaha!!

Accidentally took my truck's key fob into the ocean once. After realizing my mistake I just opened it up let it dry out overnight before trying to use it and its still working today, on the original battery too. So I'm not surprised the Z's fob survived. Also, like jeffblue, I've washed a flash drive by accident with no issues.

One of mine went through the wash and doesn't work at all now. You must have gotten lucky, lol.

Good Job Nissan! In making a pretty tightly sealed key fob. It was completely submerged and still works. My dodge key fob is not so tight. It was under for just a sec and water got inside and it quit working and it costs $250 for a new one.
