2010 Nissan 370Z PW NISMO #519 - Mod/Dyno Thread

2010 Nissan 370Z Pearl White NISMO #519

I am a diehard Z owner since 2002.

Previous Projects:
07 350Z Roadster
03 350Z Coupe

I will be updating this thread over time with pictures/videos of the modification history of NISMO including dyno info.

Completed Mod list:
8/12/10 - 10" Powered Bazooka Tube
8/12/10 - Window Tint - 50% Front/20% Side and Rear
8/14/10 - Passport 8500
8/14/10 - Mikes Mount for Passport Radar
8/29/10 - Passport 8500 hardwired with Laser Shifter ZR3
9/04/10 - Powdercoated STILLEN Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit
9/04/10 - Powdercoated BRAKES

Dyno History:
08/12/10 - Baseline Dyno - 283.7 rwhp - Dyno Dynamics
08/13/10 - Baseline Dyno - 281.2 rwhp - Dyno Jet

I have completed two mods today a 10" Bazooka Tube from my closet (I have not used that in about 4 years - wonder if they still make them?) and window tint. The Bazooka tube is a short term solution to be used until I plan out my full stereo system. The window tint is required (at least for me). Now that I have few little things done it was time to start thinking about performance.

To start the project we must start at the beginning with the baseline dyno. I dropped into Forged Performance to accomplish this goal and Sharif was able to get the car on the dyno in short order.

Baseline dyno showed 283.7 on a very hot day. I am happy to have a starting point for the car especially on the "heartbreaker".

Keep an eye out for the next dyno in a couple of weeks for my STILLEN Generation 3 Ultra Long Tube Dual Intake Kit which by the way will be my first performance mod.

A couple of other things are in the works which I will post about after the mod day over Labor Day weekend hosted by Mike from the powdercoater.com.

Mike 08-12-2010 07:04 PM

not bad numbers

Rogue370z 08-12-2010 07:07 PM

Thanks Mike. Don't know what other NISMO got stock on the heartbreaker; however it should be a really good start.

FL 4Motion 08-12-2010 09:56 PM

damn, 283 whp is pretty damn good on that dyno. Gives me an idea of what to hope for when I finally get around to dynoing mine.

Z1804 08-12-2010 10:07 PM

What kind of exhaust will you be getting Jeremy? I know you can't help it....

vividracing 08-12-2010 10:40 PM

can't wait to see what you have in store for your nismo, good luck!

Compared to past Zs I have owned, the NISMO is definitely starting out at the highest HP ever for a stock Z.

NISMO is fine for now. I don't think I will change any of the NISMO parts in the first year. I will be focusing on other aspects of the car.

Thank you! I need to start thinking of an overall plan. I do know this car will be much closer to the orange z than the green z because this car will be a driver and not a show car.

John@Z1 08-13-2010 09:56 AM

Stout numbers. Congrats on the purchase.

Depends what numbers they decided to put in the computer that day:shakes head:

But congrats on a good baseline:tup:, did you get a "Performance evaluation" while you were there?

I have never had a problem with the numbers from the dyno at Forged since they are lower than every other dyno I have ever put my car on.

No, I did do the Performace evaluation as it is a brand new car.

I am heading out to Z1 Motorsports today to see what parts they have for the 370z and what kind of pricing they get for installs.

Thank you John for your hospitality today. Got my baseline dyno done at Z1 Motorsports mading 281 on a dynojet.

I am exicted about Z1 Nationals on September24th - 26th and got some Motul RBF Brake fluid for the track day on Friday. Everyone should get registered for the track day and plan on making it out to the event.

FL 4Motion 08-13-2010 07:56 PM

/\ don't forget to pick up some good brake pads too.

Mike 08-13-2010 09:14 PM

interesting that you made less on the dynojet.

Thanks kcl! Good to know it is in line with other NISMOs. Have you done any performance mods yet looking for more hp?

Nismo370 08-14-2010 09:11 AM

i dont understand y dude is hating for if he made 283 or 281 watever it was wats the problem?

I hope so too fuct. Thanks!

I added my Passport 8500 using a Mikes Mount today. Can't wait to add the laser diffusers and the hardwire for the radar. Should have those on at a mod day over Labor Day weekend.

TongMan 08-14-2010 12:04 PM

Hmm...I expected just a bit more from a Nismo, which is rated with 18+ hp from the base Z. I dynoed 280whp and 232 wtq on a dynojet with my Base.

Rogue370z 08-14-2010 12:13 PM

Well is was extremely hot and humid here in Georgia. I would not be surprised if I dyno this fall and it is better; however the main thing I needed was a baseline against future mods.

iirc, dynojets will read quite a bit higher than Shariff's dynodynamics dyno, that's were the difference most likely is coming from.

Besides, the dyno is just to get a feel for where you are and the + or - that mods do for your particular car on that particular dyno anyway.

ps--nice numbers btw, sounds like you got a strong motor.

But he made more on Dynodynamics:confused:

nothing new though, its been discussed for awhile about how Sharif changes his dyno numbers

He made about the same...

What kind of dyno is the Dyno Dynamics?

For a comparison of different kinds of dynos on the 350Z, see here Turbo Magazine's Dyno Dash - Tech Review - Turbo Magazine

and for a table that summarizes the % change, here

Yeah, I can't explain that one at all, in theory, he should have made more on the dynojet, but like I said, pick one dyno and stick with it so you can get the most best guess as to what your car's making.

STILLEN's site says "DOES NOT FIT NISMO" for their gen 3 intake...did you have any complications when installing?

No, no problems. There are two bolts underneath the bumper on the edge of a brace that can scrape up the tubes that should be cut off with a dremel, but thats the same on the regular car too.

I emailed STILLEN and they're rep said you have to remove a diffuser that's only on the NISMO (?). Putting "WILL NOT FIT NISMO" was a precaution on their part...anyone have any info on said diffuser, or instructions on removing it? I don't want to drop the money for this until I get all my facts straight.

I'll keep scouring the nismo section for more details in the mean-time. Sorry to hijack your thread.

Well, unless Nissan forgot to put that diffuser on his car, its not an issue. We didn't have to remove anything on his car. The install was no different than on my non-nismo.

daisuke149 11-03-2010 10:59 AM

I was there for this isntall as well (so was 10'anomoly, roplusbee, z1804) and it went just like a regular 370z install.

Dpeters 11-03-2010 03:17 PM

The diffuser is designed to fit on the top of your beer so you don't spill it while Dremelling the front end of your car to get the Stillen Gen3 to fit.
