Oh dear Im sorry to hear man, are you okay, is the car totaled howd it happen

Togo 05-03-2010 05:11 PM

First I hope you were ok.

Second, what's your story?

Togo 05-03-2010 05:11 PM

Was your VDC on?

rockhounds 05-03-2010 05:13 PM

My second Nismo... the 370z is very different from the 350z so guess what... VDC could avoid this for sure... hopefully she will be ok and the axle was not affected.

rockhounds 05-03-2010 05:19 PM

My story is the same as always... slid the curb after the rear twisting around. There was no visibility on the corner and there was a dog crossing the street... 40mph I pull up the handbreak with the VDC off but the ******* dog appeared and I hit the break pedal so I lost part of the control... tried to recover but the street was kinda tight and guess what... curb on the right side... airbags popping up and 15k to fix it. The mechanics don't believe it will be totaled...

k20z3 05-03-2010 05:21 PM

What were you doing drifting or something? You and Juan08 had like the same damage... weird.

Maybe he is Juan08's mom! Jk im glad you're alright and that you didn't hurt yourself or anyone. If its a place where someone could be walking dogs, then you shouldn't be drifting around corners

vipor 05-03-2010 05:34 PM

ebrake drift in a Z?

rockhounds 05-03-2010 05:52 PM

it was my fault because that was not the right place to do that, even though at 3AM you would not expect to find a dog across the pond... (and yes ebrake in a Z in this case because that was an emergency and there wasn't any other way to stop the car or tackle the dog given the street was tight). Any body else hit the nismo's rear in a curb? do you believe that a frame aligner could do the job correctly?

shabarivas 05-03-2010 06:26 PM

That car will NEVER drive the same again... sorry...

But ... whats interesting is... why did you think the ebrake would help you? especially mid turn? if you are trying to stop - you should be on your brakes... locking your rear tires mid turn is a complete no no w/ these cars... sucks man... I would hope to get it totaled personally...

Exactly. Makes no sense at all.

What's really sad is that this is a very common theme on these boards... VDC off, Z crashed. :shakes head:

Oh well, at least you're alright.

shabarivas 05-03-2010 06:42 PM

Yea that's what really matters - but anyhow - VDC off isnt the worst thing ever - unless its wet out VDC stays off in my car - but anytime I get suspension / power mods done - it comes back on until I can drive 95% of the time w/out the lights kicking... once I am aware of the limits of the car and get a good feel for when its going to kick in - I start turning it off - but its a constant exercise in learning to drive the car :)

rockhounds 05-03-2010 06:59 PM

well I'm just sharing my bad experience with the people to avoid the same with the other users here.. if you have some tips or anything positive that you would like to share that's ok.. otherwise keep it for you. =)
