Does your nismo squeak, rattle, and creak nonstop!?

Is it just me or is the build quality on the Z garbage... I have 10k miles on my '15 nismo and it seems like everything rattles or squeaks or creaks.

My bumper makes an obnoxious squeaking noise if anything touches it. I'll upload a video tomorrow.

My seat started squeaking, dealership said it was broken and replaced it and now it ticks nonstop.

Something in the hatch area makes an annoying buzzing sound when I'm above 3k rpm.

Constant rattles from the rear passenger side.

Constant rattles from what sounds like the vents on the dash near the windshield.

Rattles from underneath the steering column.

Rattles from driver side door over every bump.

Metal clanking from underneath car over bumps.

Headliner starting to peel towards rear...

Like seriously what gives? It's impossible for me to enjoy the car because it gives me so much anxiety. I feel like it's going to fall apart into a million pieces while driving :(

If your 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo is still under warranty take to your local Nissan dealership service department to have it diagnosed if you are hearing abnormal noises from your car. I test drove a 2015 Nissan 370Z Nismo before in the past and I never heard any of the noises you are describing while driving it. I think it was overall pretty quiet while driving this car if you ask me.

fryzia23 07-07-2017 06:56 AM

Sounds like you expect way too much out of a sports car. Based on your complaints you would not have lasted a 1 day in a GTR which makes weird noises way more than a 370Z.
Don't want to sound like an a**hole but appears you bought a wrong car. Should've went with a Lexus :rofl2: I suggest just turn up the radio or buy an exhaust. Drive the car hard and just enjoy it for what it was designed for. The car is on stiffer side therefore noises are going to be there, will not go away and might just get worse overtime . Just depends how much you want to pay attention to them. I'm pretty positive, the majority of forum members did not buy their 370Z for its quite, rattle free, smooth ride. Also, remember the noises you hear might sound just normal to other people. Happy :driving:

crazy4oldcars 07-07-2017 09:54 AM

Can't hear any rate or squeeks over the noise the tires make on SE Texas's crappy roads, lol.
'16 Nismo, and it's pretty quiet on the few smooth roads in the area. I thought I had a door rattle one time. I found my can of "curiously strong" mints I forgot putting in the door pocket...

my 17 nismo makes ZERO noises/creaks/rattles/etc....

time will tell.....

My sports car makes too much noise :crying:

Might want to consider another car if those items are seriously bothering you.

Except for the headliner. Go get that replaced immediately. I had the dealer replace mine at 35K miles for ever so slightly drooping at the front. 60K miles later and the replacement is still perfect with no drooping.

It's a 2 year old $45k that has rattles and creaks everywhere...

My $20k frs had a rattle every now and then. My Z rattles nonstop even when I don't go over bumps. And in like 10 different areas!!!

Your car was obviously assembled on a Friday. Good luck getting the dealer to fix any of those noises I've had a dealer blatantly lie to my face they didn't hear a rattle in the door. Then when I took the door panel off for the first time ever, I found multiple broken clips inside the door. I made them give me some new clips at no charge.

I think I'm going to trade it in :( I really wish I didn't want to because I think these cars are the best looking cars under $100k. I need something more refined. Thinking F-type R.

Coming from a FRS and then going to a Z - seems like you like a 'driver's car'; while the F Type is a beauty, do you think it will offer the 'driving' experience that you are looking for? One nice thing about the FRS and the Z is that the driving experience is a great one.

It has great driving dynamics! I don't want to sell my Z but at this rate it's going to be a pile of dust by the time I hit 20k miles. I'm appalled by the build quality. Every trim piece on the interior is loose, everything rattles or squeaks, and I'm kind of over it.

Z-Girl 12 07-08-2017 01:21 PM

Both my Z's were rattle kings. I just turned the music up. But when trying to have a conversation, the trunk rattle is always present.

You are not going to get away from noise regardless of the sporty car. It comes with the territory. You dont think Porsches and other sports car don't have some suspension noise depending on road surface and bumps in the road. Hell even my wife's Audi S5 makes noise on bad roads!

Let him trade it. Maybe it'll end up in the hands of someone who'll appreciate what it is.
I looked at the Jags and decided they were overpriced Mustangs. I've had Mustangs.

I have no problem with some rattles on bumpy roads. My car makes all sorts of noises on smooth roads and that's what bugs me.

2010 nismo 53k miles ,very tight no rattles at all :)

NecioVato 07-09-2017 04:25 PM

Not to jinx it - but my car only rattles on bad roads and I have an occasional rattle that seems to be coming from the front - like if something is loose but I chalk it up to being a 6yr old car with 88k miles on it.
Plain and simple, I have never had a car that didn't have rattles - I know friends who own Lexus cars and SUVs don't seem to experience the rattles like other brands do but...they also don't experience the driving experience either. I think it is probably due to most cars that are performance driven have tighter suspensions which means that things will eventually rattle when you drive it a lot. My G35 rattled, my ex's BMW had a few and my GTI had rattles as well - I just don't expect to find a perfect car.
One question though - would you rather deal with a few rattles or drive a fast car (let's face it - the F-Type will be very fast out of the box) but have a numb feeling when driving?
Maybe the dealership can help you diagnose where they are coming from and eliminate some of them for you.

Squeaks & Rattles

My 2010 40th AE has almost 80K miles and has been noise free. Suggest that you check to make sure that the spare, jack, etc. are tightened down.

Rusty 07-09-2017 05:11 PM

The only squeak my Nismo has, is the SPL sway bar links after I drive through the rain and they dry out afterwards. Spray some oil on them. Then I good until the drive through the rain. Oh, and I have 32,000 miles on the Nismo.

Hotrodz 07-09-2017 09:15 PM

Mine is the same as Rusty at 51k.

I've always praised my 2009 370 Sport for being so solid and quiet. It literally has no rattles or squeaks at all. It has 30k miles on it.

Hotrodz 07-10-2017 11:44 AM

From what I gather from the OP is that he sensitive to noise and what we may not consider to be squeaking and creaking he does. To each their own and he should find a car that he will be happy with. His money his joy!. Heck some of us have been criticized by others because we bought Nismos and then upgraded them so we "piad more than we needed to for just a body kit" lol. The OP should do what make him happy!

If he really likes the Nismo outside of the noise then he should go ride in someone else's Nismo and do a comparison...it may be his car. Then he can decide if he wants to roll the dice on another Nismo or call it and get that Jag. Got to say that Jag is pretty swank if he got the doe to roll like that!

Located one of the main culprits. It's the headrest area of the passenger seat... sounds like a bunch of dry spaghetti noodles. What the heck!!

Also does your Z make this noise when you apply even the smallest amount of pressure to the bumper?

I swear my car is a lemon -_-

Makes the noise when going over bumps too. As you can tell from the video I was barely applying pressure. Shutting the trunk does the same.

That sound isn't normal, right?

Sounds just like Rusty described. That shouldn't be happening other than a good time in the back seat of a 68 Impala!

Try a '54 Chevy. It's got a queen-size backseat.

Do you guys think it should be covered under the manufacturers warranty? Car only has 10k miles on it...

I would take it back and raise hell. If they have another one on the lot I ask to take test drive in it with you and then do the same in your car!

More like "No-Tell Motel". When you check in. They give you clean sheets, 2 beers, a condom, and charge by the hour.

On the phone the service guy said rattles and squeaks aren't covered past 1 year and my car is 2 years old. I talked him into letting me at least bring the car in but what should I say if he says tough luck? Do I even have any grounds here?

I would ask him where did they come up with the one year time frame. Have him produce it in writing. If he can't go corporate on them. It may be fruitless but you can get some satisfaction making them jump through hoops.

"Magic Fingers" massaging bed....
Johnny. He's letting you bring it in because he can charge you a "diagnostic fee" if he doesn't find anything covered by warranty. I would say you're already s.o.l. since you're outside the warrantable period for squeeks and rattles. Plus it will show up in service records, so...

Kirk B.

Hotrodz 07-10-2017 05:30 PM

If you have brought this to their attention before said one year date and the issue was never resolved I would say you still may have a chance. It may be one in million but you might hit the lotto.
