Epic failure of a thread

Purchased a day after starting the thread and ignored all the advice

Zoren 370 04-15-2017 10:13 AM

Its his money and headache. So let him be and let him enjoy his car.
It might not sound good to everyone but his driving his dream car.

If his happy with it. I don't see any problem.
His grown up and he can figure it out him self. Mistakes are the best teachers in life.

12% interest??? Never...Geez

Xhilr8n! 04-15-2017 10:25 AM

Makes me remember when I was that age, that stage of life. How I wanted so much to have a fancy car. How I could rationalize how and why it made sense.

Nowadays my brain tries to explain to me why a new DB11 makes sense. It makes some pretty good arguments.

A lot of good mature reasoning has been laid out in this thread. Reminds me of what Dad told me, what I tell my son.

I really enjoy our Z cars. But honestly the Civic Si is great fun to drive and I paid $22,000 off the show room floor. For most real life situations it's better than any Z.

And if we do get a new Z next year, our current cars will lose a lot of value. Being stuck with years of payments on an out of date model can be pretty awful. But how we learn.

I applaud all of the forum members for giving some great advice on this thread. That is why this forum is amazing! BTW OP, you could have saved yourself time, headaches, belittling, etc. had you just listened to yourself in the first place. Hell, you didn't listen to anyone here! Good luck and enjoy your Z.

4. bought my 17 NISMO - COMFORTABLY- (cant stress that enough)

do not blow all of your savings on a car.... you always need an emergency fund

Holy crap. I thought I was rockin' at 810.

OP. DO NOT do this. I was upside down for years based on the same thinking that you have. Now I'm completely opposite. I don't want to finance anything because I don't want to pay interest. I have not paid interest for at least 5 years on anything and believe me, it's a wonderful feeling.

Downgraded to a sport tech? Really? I for one do not see the Nismo as being a huge upgrade. But that is subjective. If that's what you did, then good for you.
As for being happy for you, you need to be happy with your decision. I am certain that everyone here is happy for you. The Z is an awesome car.

Xhilr8n! 04-15-2017 09:41 PM

You will have some very good times with your car no doubt

There is no "arguable" economic decision you could make that I've not done worse.

Emotion getting the best of us is nothing to be ashamed of. Heck, there would be no sports cars except for emotion and a sense of folly.

Zatanna Z 04-15-2017 11:08 PM

Man just like everyone else here said it's always better to get yourself a car used. When you buy one brand new you are just losing money and when you buy a car used you can find one that's basically brand new for a much better price. Example here https://www.carfax.com/vehicles/JN1A...z-370z--olathe out of curiosity I checked to see what a used nismo would cost and this has 10k miles at a 32k price tag!!! Your monthly payments wouldn't have been near as bad with that price.

OptionZero 04-16-2017 01:26 AM

The problem is he walked into the dealership with the mindset that he HAD TO BUY A Z IMMEDIATELY.

With that attitude, you already lost, the dealer is throwing away the lube and smiling as he's about to take you.

When car shopping, you must be prepared to wait and walk away from any car.

This kid already decided he's buying a NEW Z because OMG I NEED It.

We coulda had 100 priests, accountants, lawyers, parents, friends, whatever telling him to wait and think about what he's doing before doing it. Wouldn't have mattered. We're just noise.

Whatever. Can't save everyone.

That right there is where you ****** up.

You posted asking for "advice"

What you really wanted was a bunch of ra-ra, slap you on the shoulder and crap.

You weren't honest with yourself.

Enjoy your payments.

Ignorance is bliss i guess

but when you realize how bad you ****** up, don't turn to drugs or anything, just remember this thread and how we told you so and um . . . learn?
