Attention 2015 and 2016 Nismo Owners

Can 2015 and 2016 Nismo owners verify that their suspension and stabilizer bars match what is advertised on the Nissan website?

My 2016 has black springs, black struts, and black stabilizer bars. I spoke with Nissan Field Quality Investigations and they said this became standard starting with the 2015 model and that the Nissan website needs to be corrected.

How about more details. What is advertised on their website?

Exact same setup on my '15... all black. (was initially kinda dissapointed but whatcha gonna do...)

Same here, I guess when you get the NISMO now it's nothing special. Reason why we don't have number plate. I wonder if someone made a class action lawsuit we could get the NISMO suspension

Any chance to get photos of the 15+ Nismo springs/sways?
Would be able to compare to the coupe & previous model Nismo to see what they changed or if they just started using the same suspension components for all models now.

Can you get a better look at the struts? I remember on my 09 Nismo the struts had the words Nismo or Autech engraved onto it. And the sway bars were black, not gray like the Nismo S-tune sway bars you can buy.

Oh noes...........yet another reason to steer clear of the 15+ NISMO for me.

need4speed255 05-12-2015 11:55 PM

Stay calm everyone. The Nismo does have it's own springs, struts, and probably sway bars too.

I did not see anywhere on the Nissan website that shows pictures of the Nismo suspension. OP, what are you referring to?

Davey 05-13-2015 06:29 AM

Oh noes black springs and no stupid number plate, my car is a joke! Better sue Nissan!

Are you guys serious with this crap?

The 2015+ NISMO is the best NISMO ever. Now put on some dry pants and go drive your cars. :shakes head:

Exactly.

The 2015 is very slightly less stiff than the 2009 - 2014, not much at all... In fact sometimes I doubt there is even a difference, it's so slight. Still WAY stiffer than a regular 370Z.

Go to the local stealership and get a quote for a sway bar and see what the part description is.

I was keeping my mouth shut until someone else brought the springs and suspension up. He is right the springs and everything else is black. As far as the performance it's quite a bit different than my 13. First thing I had to get used to the suspension is not near as stiff it's actually pretty loose more comparable to a regular Z. I now have to actually watch my oversteer.. Like what someone has already said what's done is done. I still love my car. I don't know if this is correct but my service manager stated they shortened the wheel base in the front for 15+? IDK maybe this is a factor maybe not but it's definitely not a 14 down Nismo feel. If the springs have the same specs as the 14 down then the color doesn't really matter not like you really see them anyway.

Davey 05-13-2015 01:44 PM

I got out of my '14 which I'd driven quite a bit in the spring and into the '15 for the test drive and I did not notice much difference at all.

Unless the current sport/touring is significantly stiffer than the 2012 sport/touring Z, the NISMO was and is still considerably, undeniably stiffer, while I don't even think I would have noticed the difference between the '14 NISMO and the '15 were I not told that the '15 suspension was a little softer, i.e. "9/10 instead of 10/10."

NefariousZ34 05-13-2015 02:09 PM

Have to disagree with you there I would say more like 6.5/10 to 10/10. I didn't really know about the changes until actually driving the car then read more about it after. Just took some getting used to a corner I used to hit at 100+ comfortably no sway no negative response in the steering I now get in the 15. That's how I noticed and found the real difference is real time driving using same turns and speeds. Its changed how I approach a lot of my turns. Not bashing on it just different do I want to sue Nissan that would be a negative. If I cared that much I would just trade with a 13 or 14 owner who was wanting the 15.

Davey 05-13-2015 02:34 PM

Well, If the '15 NISMO is 6.5/10 and the '14 is 10/10 then the 2012 370Z Sport Package is like 3.5/10.

The '15 NISMO is definitely more compliant, I can tell simply by driving the car for 3 hours and not feeling like I have been in a car wreck. I have neck issues (from a car wreck) and I could only take so much of the '14. The '15 is still very much stiffer than the '12 Sport Package though, which I did not think was stiff at all.

I drive about 1.5 hours to a friend's house and back pretty often in the summer and I would always be hurting on the way back in the '14 - I did the same trip twice in one weekend in the '15 with nothing but a smile on my face the whole time.

In actual cornering performance I don't notice much of a difference on the street on fast on-and-off ramps, and even feel like on some corners with bumps the car is less likely to get unsettled. No doubt the prior NISMO would be faster on a perfectly smooth road, though. If you are looking for something to drive at 10/10 then the '14 NISMO would be better/faster. I just wanted something stiffer/sportier than the Sport Package Z (which I liked, but found pretty soft and cushy) but not so bad that I could not drive it for 3 hours. :ugh:

Anyway yes the '15 NISMO is less stiff and harsh. To what degree, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. But there is no ******* way it's using the Sport Package springs unless the '13 "Euro Tuned" shocks/springs were way, way stiffer than the 2012.
