:icon14:Just crazy......I had all three on both sides! During a drive back from downtown today I was saying to myself "WTF was someone thinking make the ride so stiff", but once again I just tacked it up to track intentions. As far as a lawsuit goes, if someone came in to a corner too hard the intended braking dip would not be there thus you would be skating on rubber. I hope someone at Nissan and more importantly NISMO is watching this thread!:icon23:
Great find and thank you! |
Just checked my car last weekend, low and behold they were there. Just the ones on the inside. Thanks to the forum I didn't find them miles later once I jacked up the car. Vehicle was purchased from Tonkin Nissan in Oregon, though it was Nissan of the Eastside in Bellevue WA that did the PDI.
|
Wow i cant believe that all these nismos have them on there. My car was in the shop for a week so when i read this i couldnt go and check. But i just got it back from the body shop and sure enough they were there. But not just one on each side but three on each side! I was like really? So i took it back to the dealer and let them know that they should look at the other ones they sell. Thanks for this and good looking out:)

Me too!
62 miles into my new Nismo and knew something was not right about the suspension. Looked at mine tonight and there they are - 3 on each side! Time for the floor jack!

Its not a bad idea to make the dealerships perform the work. Like bobapooluza mentioned, you never know what you deal or special you might be able to work out.
|
Thanks for posting this, mine had them too. I asked while still at the dealer so they put it up on the rack and pulled them, and then double-checked everything else.
|
Removed two from mine. I thought some bumps felt very harsh. Thanks for posting this though.
|
verts too..

I was wondering why my vert was ground to top of wheel well 28" in the front and 26.5" in the rear , too cold out but will check tomorrow and report back.

Great info
G F,
Great info, I'll be checking mine out tonight. Thanks again. |
Thanks for the info. Just checked mine, got all 3 on both front sides. Only 1600 miles for 6 months, not my daily drive car, no wonder the ride was so stiff but not so stable on hard fast corner. Thought that was how it supposed to. It was even stiffer ride than my M3 but not as easy to control for very fast corner. Now make sense. I think Nissan should contact all the Nismo owner to take care of this.

Just curious, you guys think it'd be possible to somehow find and print out what is supposed to go into the PDI that they are charging for and request money back for an inspection that obviously wasnt done correctly or at all?

Spring Spacers - check!
Thanks for the tip, just took delivery of NISMO #408 yesterday and first day on the forums I got this useful bit - love this place already! Sure enough, spacers were there. Spoke to my sales guy on Sunday and he said they should have been removed and to bring it back Monday. 3 minutes with a floor jack at home and it was all better. Still very locked down drive but a bit softer...
|
holy crap mine has them, too!!!! you guys rock thanks so much for the tip!!
|
crazy

Mine still had the shipping spacers installed. Thx for the tip!
Cherish... |
I just jointed your forum because my Nismo is making a noise when I shift from 1st to 2nd gear, almost like a clunking noise. It's not there all the time, especially when I took it to a Dealer to have it looked at. Of course it did not make any noise at all. Does anyone else have this problem. I also read in your forum about the clutch making noise when the clutch is out. I have that same problem and my dealer aledgely replaced my trans, after a few months it can back and I haven't had a chance to take it back. Now I am going to have to, I found one spacer on my driver's side and I found three on my passanger side. No wonder my suspension was so stiff. Thanks for looking out.
|
OK....! now you got me going on these rubber blocks I found between the springs on my 370 "NISMO". I was told that this was an old NASCAR trick used to stop body roll....yea, right. I was wondering why my 370 was cornering so badly at ThunderHill Raceway!!! Shipping blocks!.......OK. I am going to look into this a little more, (probably remove them even if I have to take a SawsAll after them. :>)

Are these only found on the Nismos?!!
|
Wow no way..... Just checked my month old 2010 nismo and there on it as well wow it did have some major gap going on in the front.

Holy crap, mine has them too! I just called the dealer and they weren't aware of the issue, however they were happy to remove them and even scheduled me in for 4PM this afternoon.
Thanks for the heads up, excited to see how the car feels after this "oversight" is corrected! |

2011 nismo
:driving:What a relief! My car rode like CRAP, very disappointed until I read this POST - GUILTY. Much better with the shipping limiters removed.
|
Just for future references:
How many of these spacers is the car supposed to have in all? |

I better Check just in case. |
I found one they missed on my 2011.

2011 nismo
My 2011 NISMO had one on each side; they were on the inside of the spring, easy to spot.
|
just so u know, a lot of techs dont even know about the wheel spacers. we hardly ever see nismos in the shop because not many around and they are great cars. i didnt know about the wheel spacers till i saw them on my nismo last week when i got it. i threw it up on the lift to check out the shiny exhaust and such, change the oil only because it was delivered to the dealership we got it from in december, and im anal. i asked some of the other techs and some kn ew and some didnt. nobody bothered to inform us. kinda shitty i know but there are alot of different models to know about not just the 370's. on behalf of nissan service technicians were sorry if u found yourself pulling out wheel spacers in your garage and hurting the hell out of your forearm. its easier with a jack or lift
|
Yep, have them on mine. Thanks for the info!
|
Checked it out and what do you know...there they were! I noticed most of you found one on each side...mine had two on each side for a total of four. Will get this taken care of tomorrow. Thanks!
|
just took mine off. I had 3 on each? is that normal?

I'll be damned, I just crawled under my care and found one of those spacers left in my suspension too! Just one though, only on the drivers side ...unbelievable.
Thanks so much G Fo12ce for sharing this! |
Has anyone had any damage from these being in for so long??
|
Thank you very much G Fo12ce for the post! I'm so glad that I joined this forum or else I would have never bothered to check for the spacers. I know that the Nismo would ride hard but I thought that it should not be this hard and bumpy. So I went online to find out what others would say about it and that's how I saw the post. My husband went to look in the wheel well and low and behold found 3 spacers on each side! I also found a piece of warning label crumpled under the seat about six spacers installed in the front coil springs used for transportation purposes that had to be removed before delivery to the customer. I just picked up my 2012 Nismo last Monday, 3/25/12. We're going to the dealership tomorrow to bring it to their attention and have them removed. I'm disappointed with the dealership's PDI because there was a caution label and it was ignored.
|
I couldn't wait for tomorrow. I had my husband jack the car up in the rain to remove the spacers. It took 2 seconds! We test drove it and it was like night and day. It now rides comfortable and quieter! I love this car even more now!!! We will still let the dealership be aware of their oversight.
