New to 370z and confused

Guys,

Im from Newnan Georgia and i work in Atlanta. The 370z wont be my daily driver. I am kind of confused at the moment what to do. Here is my situation.

I currently own a White 04 S2000 with less than 20K miles on it, this is my baby which i drive about 2-4 times a month. I also have an 05 Blue s2000 with 50K i had this before i bought my white s2k from an older gentleman from Florida, this was my daily driver at one point. I also have an 06 EVO 9 MR which currently sits along with the other 2 S2K`s. My daily driver is an 05 RSX type-S with 90xxx miles and counting. Its been very reliable and constantly gets above 30+ mpg for me since its mostly highway interstate from newnan to dunwoody.

My two S2K are paid off. I owe $158xx on my evo and $11300 on my rsx-s.

I currently have saved up $14000 for a new car(specifically for the 370). Im thinking i might have to let go of either the EVO or RSX-S. Between the two i love the EVO alot more. But for my drive to work the rsx-s is so much better in gas and maintenance.

I found a few dealerships that have the yellow and blue Z, which are my top choices in color. Yellow being only for 09 and blue is kinda unusual for the monterrey blue. Trading my rsx is only valued around 9K and while the EVo is about 19K. So yes i am upside down on my rsx because of mileage.

I dont really want to part ways with my evo but its more likely the scenario. it sucks because it took me almost a year to find the right EVO MR because alot of cars i looked at where ragged out or modded like crazy. I want an OEM bone stock evo mr. I dont mod much, but i feel the 370 with full bolt-ons and a reflash wont be good enough for me.

I dont really want to wait a long time since the cars 09 370z ive been looking at will probably be gone before the year ends. I am looking for the base-sport or Base-Sport-Touring. dont really need the navi since its a weekend car.

i tried looking for the difference between the touring-sport and base with sport. Only thing i notice is the bose, leather seats, heated seats. Are those the only difference?

Sorry for the long post i am not getting my head straight right now and cant get this 370 z out of my mind. I thought i already got a fairly stable car lineup and after test driving the 370, i want one badly.

Thank you and looking forward to being a member here,

Wilson

PICS ARE UPLOADED!

might I suggest trading in the blue S2k and keeping the evo? I don't see a real need to have 2 of the same car, and it seems the white one is your favorite. Use the $$ from the trade in and the 14k to buy the Z outright, or damn near close to it.

an unmodded evo is definitely difficult to find, you may want to hold onto that one!

GT Motoring 12-11-2009 12:13 PM

White S2000 is the best.

The Laguna Blue S2000 is nice as hell too, but since you already have white, I would trade that in.

If they were different, like an AP1 and AP2 then I would say keep them both but they are both AP2 so they are very very similar between 04 and 05.

phelan 12-11-2009 12:13 PM

:iagree: why two S2000s? lose the blue one and be happy

ChrisSlicks 12-11-2009 12:39 PM

Sell both Honda's and buy the 370. After a month you'll have discovered that you haven't hardly driven the Evo at which point you can sell that too to finance the upgrades to the 370. :p

dcrew1x 12-11-2009 01:00 PM

Coming from a previous owner of a 2003 Honda S2k...sell at least one of em and get the 370z. With all these cars... what do you do for a living?

Well in either case, you don't need two of the same car like a few members suggested.

matrix_square 12-11-2009 02:04 PM

there`s just one problem with the blue s2000 , its my wife`s car. So i cannot touch it!!!! I dont want to be the next tiger woods with a wife incident. i guess now it will just go down between the rsx type-s and the evo 9 as which one to go. I dont know yet...

Do you have any transmission issues with the 370z yet?

KillerBee370 12-11-2009 02:25 PM

You need to mix it up more and drive 'em all. If you got 'em, drive 'em. Not one of those cars is gaining any value regardless of the low miles. It ain't an Enzo.

Hey... who do you have so many cars anyway?

Ok... that aside... I would be rid of the RSX if anything. Upside down or not. If you really have a clean, stock MR, keep that because you won't come across one of those again and it's kind of an iconic style for that vehicle (even if it is a shopping cart :icon17: ) Drive that damn white S2K a lot more and enjoy it. Once you get a 370 you will not have need for so many cars. :p

KillerBee370 12-11-2009 02:28 PM

Oh.. since the blue S2K is the wifey's car, leave it out of the equation unless you like sleeping on the couch.

:tiphat:

LETSGOEERS06 12-11-2009 02:52 PM

I love the tiger analogy lmao

Rickey89 12-11-2009 02:59 PM

id get rid of a s2000
Edited: i didnt realize a s2k was yours wifes, id get rid of the rsx then, sure you wont get as much for it but you would be left with a s2k/evo mr/ and a 370
sounds like a pretty good stable to me

matrix_square 12-12-2009 12:23 AM

guys just an update - i might be a Z370 owner in a few days.
The rsx-s might be toast... Dealership saw my Evo 9 MR and the owner liked it and offered 19K for it. Which gives a $4000 equity towards the trade of the chicane yellow i might be getting. They`ve got a good price too $29990 plus $349 dealership fee and $18 tag fee. Plus pay the tax on the difference on the trade. $31888 out the door for an 09 with 15 miles. Depending of course which car i trade it...

the 31888 is if i trade the rsx-s and getting $10000 for it. Which i owe 11500 on it. which makes me $1500 upside down and i was planing on putting down $10000 on it. which means i only be really putting down $8500. So 31888 less 8500 = 23338

If i go with the evo route i get $19000 for the evo = $4000 equity toward the trade and i get taxes roughly $11000($770) so 29999+349+18+770= 31136 - $4000 = 27136 - $10000 = 17136 total.

I also get to get a reliable beater with the rsx. I dont know if the evo is going to be a good daily driver when it gets some age on it. A buddy was offering to buy it from me to about $19800. Im tempted to sell it to him, but i`ll get shafted with the taxes. I guess its about the same, only difference is i`ll still get to see my evo every now then on sundays in church.

matrix_square 12-12-2009 12:25 AM

Yes i know they dont gain any value with low mileage, but it helps me with maintenance if they are lower mileage.

My dad has a 69 Superbee - i figured by the time i hit his age the Evo, s2k, 370z will be a classic by then. I should take long for the s2k to reach that, since they`ve been out for 10 years now. And the evo is a icon for most car enthusiast.

KillerBee370 12-12-2009 08:54 AM

Yellow ftw!

:icon18: I'm a hater... :stirthepot: A 4-door as an icon? Okay then....

I'd get rid of the S2K that is your own and the EVO. Keep the RSX for the DD.

Good luck getting the Z.

The Evo isn't an icon in the iconic sense of the collector car world. It is however an icon as cars go in the world of rally and having owned one, I can say the car (for being a 4 banger) is really jawdropping. It does actually have a pretty rich history behind it. It's no F40 but you know what I mean.

oo7mech 12-12-2009 09:35 AM

With soo many cars. you can't drive them all at the same time.

What are your plans for the Z? Do you just want it, just to want it?

Getting a base won't be a classic for a Z. You would want the Sport Touring with 19" fat wheels, illuminated kick plate, hand painted pin strip, window etching. Plus they are going to offer you all those extra options.
Unlimited Dent and Ding repair
Wheel and Tire coverage
Mechanical Protection + added warrenty
Skyway - gps tracker

So your going to have to take that into account if your going to put those extras on there.

S2k - Evo - Z what do you want to drive on the weekend? First thought, should be your choice to keep.

DON'T GET THE Z! I don't want you on the road

That price isn't very good if that is a stripped base, no wonder they offered a good trade-in value. You should be paying invoice or below for left over 09's depending on location. Check out the invoice price thread.

Got mine at $32,800 Base Sport. Has all the exterior features, limited interior. Your going to want that Sncryo Rev Match. all the reviews love it.

matrix_square 12-12-2009 01:50 PM

anyways just thought i`d let you guys know...

Dealership have agreed on selling their car for $29990 + $349.99 doc fee and $18.00 fee

Trading my Evo 9 MR to them for $18500 - i will use the $3000 from my equity for my down payment. Plus additional cash($5000) to keep my payment a little lower. By Trading my evo based on the difference i would only be paying $800+ on tax based. so about $31216-31500 depending exact taxes. Keep in mind $3000 from equity on the evo and $5000 down. So i might financing about 23500. About $440-$445 based on 5% from my credit union.

They car is a Base Chicane Yellow with Sport package with the illuminated door sills. comes with the floor mats and rear hatch crap. Thats it... I dont know if $29999 if invoice for a base/sport package. I will look at that thread.

I was going to pick up the car today but my credit union drop the ball on it. They wanted the exact figure for the car, no approximation. BS!!!

Either way first thing Monday i will get my credit union to release the check and i will pick up the car or they will deliver it to me. I hate buying from the dealership too much paper work / even with the credit union.

matrix_square 12-12-2009 02:00 PM

no need for touring for me - cost $3000+ more

My favorite car is my Grand Prix White S2000 04. Ive only driven it 20,000 miles in 5 and half years of ownership. My wife and i commute together. We have a scheduling conflict.

The white s2k usually gets driven about 2-4 times a month.

The Blue s2000 gets driven 3 times a week by my wife. I drive the evo on Thursdays and Fridays. The RSX is our daily commuter if we are together.

I plan to get to drive the Z on Thursdays and Fridays. As i will be replacing my EVO. They all have their designated days to be driven... lol

Im very excited to get this car this week.

I didnt get the touring/sport because i am content with the base/sport. Dont really have a use for the heated seats i am in georgia. Plus the price difference was like $3000-3500. I usually change my sound system anyways. Planning on getting my own GPS double din on this car, plus Focal K2P or 165 VR powered by alpine`s pdx amps and maybe a JL sub. These is my set up for my two s2000`s.

Oh okay, if it has the Sport package then this is a good deal. Got mine for $30800 back in March, same specs but white. Yellow is a premium color (limited 1st year color). I didn't care for the touring equipment either, actually prefer the cloth to the leather.

As in, just the basics. Cloth, single cd player, non digital or HD radio, no dual climate, no heated seats. Doesn't have the illuminated kick plate. They even took out the floor mats. But i told them to put'em back in.

Dooooode, what is it with you and the illuminated kick plate? That is an option on any car, it has nothing to do with Base or Touring. :icon14:

Click the "Paste Image" icon. Make sure you are viewing the URL of the image only (not the URL of the page containing the image(s), don't try to just copy and paste an image, that will not work.

I'm writing this because I don't have a Facebook account, don't want a facebook account, but I want to see this wild car collection of yours. :tiphat:

These pics were taken last November of last year. I didnt have the RSX type-S back then. The RSX typse is my daily driver now since we moved to Newnan from Midtown. I do drive a 100 miles round trip a day, so i needd something a little more comfortable and better gas mileage.

Get rid of the white S2... drive the wifes one when you miss it... or give your wife the white s2 and get rid of the blue one... Its a no brainer man

Now that I see the 04 is suzuka blue and not laguna blue, I care about it even less. haha!

Keep the evo!

lastest Update

Looks like my 370z might end up being a xmas 370z.

A dealership in Tennesse offered $19000 for my Evo 9 MR with 60K miles.

They are selling their 370z used Monterrey Blue with Sport/Tourting/Nav and 6400 miles for 31215 + 197.50 dealer fee and 20 tag fee. I also got approved for their financing for 4.09 through Chase Finance. With $4000 down and 4.09% interest my payments for 72 months equals 399.xx

Another scenario is they are giving me $9000 for my RSX typs-S with 90,000 miles on it. Which would make me $2000 upside down. I will be the same payment just need to put $6000 down instead of $4000.

what do u guys think? I`d like to hear from y`all... to see if this is an ok deal?

shabarivas 12-22-2009 05:25 PM

Definately keep the evo over the RSX - think of it like this: you pay 2k to keep the evo over the RSX. if you are financing the Z - i dont think you should be buying it - but thats personal opinion.

oo7mech 12-22-2009 05:38 PM

If you rid of the RSX then you have only one car payment. Which would be better long term. Extra money your saving to do your future mods.
I'm a fan of only 1 car payment. Which is why i'm trying to sell these cars.
