2013 vs 2014

So I'm again looking for my dream car after so many years of wanting one. Now I see a 2014 Base w/ sports package at $34 but the car seems bare in the interior as far as audio and other gadgets, so on the plus side I see is the wing, lip, calipers, suspension and 19" wheels.
There is a 2013 Touring at $35k with navy, Bose, blue tooth, heated leather seats for 35K.
I ask those who have the sports/ touring package if they ever consider a Z with one or the other. I drove the sports vehicle and was not impressed even when the sales guy tried to impress me by pushing the car , so I'm leaning to having goods inside the car and not be so concern with the fancy brakes wheels and other items that I think don;'t really make the difference for someone who likes the shape f the car more than what's capable of doing in the track.
Any opinions will be appreciated it, thanks for reading

(Mr. Mod sorry but I think I should have posted this in general forum and I seem not able to delete it or change it, my apologies)

That's like asking if you should marry a tall gal or a short one - it depends on what you want.

If you are more concerned about the amenities, the Touring is probably the best choice. If you are more concerned with performance, the Sport. Maybe you should start looking for a Sport + Touring. ;)

I have a Touring and like it. For the way I drive (spirited driving around town) the Sport package would be overkill.

I have every option on my 09. When I was looking in '12, I was looking for either a Red Nismo or a fully loaded touring/sport/nav. I couldn't find one Nismo that wasn't priced through the roof. Did however find a touring/sport/nav and love the fact I went that direction. Im a creature comfort guy!! But to each their own:)

I'd get the '13 sport touring, like the guys mentioned if you want amenities and creature comforts, otherwise if you are considering a '14 for the sake that it's a '14, then find a '14 sport touring. I do not know your financial status, but if lets say if you are going to loan this without a large down payment, then your better off leasing a '14 and then make sure you can have the dealer lock on a residual value after the lease if you plan on keeping the car.

Thanks you all o the replies, I'm just shocked that a base model doesn't have even blue tooth, just an am/ fm radio w/ cd and 4 speakers and a cover where it' a glove box where the navy should go, just can't get it in my head that we are in an electronics era but really some ppl just want the car to race it and not as a daily driver which is what I would use mine for.
I appreciate your honest replies and yes I'm leaning towards the '13 because I know it will handle as well in the streets as the 14, here in New England there isn't enough smooth roads to really speed without hitting a pot hole, thanks again and wish me luck

As a daily driver, I would think that you definitely want the touring package. Be aware that that too has only the funky cubby/hatch.

Personally, I had them find me a Touring Sport. For resale if nothing else, but I think the sport package is too cost-effective (resale) an upgrade to pass up. Likewise, I think that the base model is too stripped down in the electronics department also affecting resale. I think you'll come close to getting your money back on either or both of those two upgrades. If you have to choose one or the other only, I'd get the a Touring package.

I just sold my 2011 T/S and bought a 2014 T/S w/Nav. The Nav finishes the car off nicely. I think the Navigation is kind of lame, and the electronics overly complicated and not user-friendly but I do like the rear camera and the status display selection. As for the rest, probably not cost-effective. I'll consider it a dumb expenditure unless it's upgradeable to Apple's CarPlay.

Mac, the '13 I'm looking right now has the navy, back up camera and Bose system the only thing it doesn't have is the sports package therefore no 19's no racing calipers, no suspension,no wing but really like I said that is something once I'm on the cockpit I will not notice even if I decide to do some spirited driving, right now I'm trying to get more for my trade, so that will be the deal breaker.
As I posted before the Z is my dream car because of the look, I was not impressed with the driving compared to all my previous rides but then again I never had a sports car and even the base still is a sports car, tell me if I'm wrong here... thanks for the input

If you plan on upgrading things to do your own sort of spirited driving or track use, then forgo the sport package and upgrade away. If you are just going to drive the car pretty normal you don't need the sports package, but it is a hell of a deal for the money if it can be had. Up to you though!

I chose the NISMO Ed. and added my own electronics and sound. Good luck!

Sorry, I missed that. "navy" = "Nav" in MacSpeak. Yeh, given the parameters you've set, I'd go for the Touring/navy.

I too doubt you'll notice the lack of Sport package in daily New England driving. I do think you'll notice its absence when you go to sell it and they make their trade-in offer. I'm a little surprised you weren't impressed with the handling. Mine always impresses me, especially when I push it a little.

Don't get me wrong this vehicle moves but in my world the roads I drive will never permit me to drive it like I stole it, I have a 2013 Beetle turbo w/ only 200 hp but 216 torque and that little car with navy, fender sound system, sunroof is fun to drive as well as fast for my backroads and I'm really in no hurry to trade it. The dealer will give me a good trade value and I have equity already built that will allow me to give a sizeable amount down plus a few out of pocket $$ to get my payment around $350 to $400 depending on the model. I've been looking at the Z since i joined this forum back in 2009 but due to numerous reasons I bought a different vehicle, I love the shape and not really interested in the hp that IMHO is like owning a gun, you have it but hope to never use it unless is for fun in a range...lol

OTOH, if you don't have a gun, you can't ever go to the range at all.

lol I do have guns and now I need a Z , but as I do more research I found a 2013 Touring/ sports package, navy and Bosse but has 3200 k miles and is a demo...damn choices call was placed to the dealer waiting for a reply 37999 but I know there is a 3200 rebate and I have the employee discount thru work, lets see..

The sports package is definitely worth it.

The luxuries of the touring + nav are a very noticeable upgrade from the bare bones interior, but if it takes the price out of range for you, I'd take the sports pack over the other items in a heart beat.

That said, if even the sports package is out of range, the base model is still a fantastic car without any of the bells and whistles.

As others have said, it's a personal preference kind of thing. I must have built every possible Z configuration possible on Nissan's site and cruised the local Nissan dealers so often I think I knew their inventory better than they did. So when I was finally ready to part with my 2009 Eclispe GT, a car that I bought new and threw every performance and handling modification at, I went looking for a Z Coupe with Sport Package.

I opted for this configuration for no other reason than to keep costs down. However, Z Coupes with Sport Packages were in short supply in my neck of the woods at time time I wanted to make the purchase, which as it turns out this was a blessing in disguise. It made me consider the Z Coupe Touring with Sport Package.

If you dig the stock Rays, sport brakes and want an LSD then the Sport Package is a must have. If you just want some extra interior goodies then the Touring package should do nicely. But if you can swing it, get them both. You won't regret it. I damn sure don't.

Coming from a previous car that did have factory Navy I must admit I do miss this option. However, since I unlimited data then my Galaxy Note 3 fits almost perfectly in the center cubby area and that currently works for me.

I agree with no blue tooth, unreal for a 21 century car though! HAHA
