Default Worth the Wait

As some of you may know (from my post in the ordering forum), I almost bought a 370Z that was not my first choice in color. Well, Fly Yellow steered me towards a better dealer and they found my car:

Now, a little about myself. My uncle bought a yellow 240Z back in 1970. I always loved that car, and told him that I would buy it if he ever sold it. One of the earliest memories that I have is sitting behind the steering wheel of that car and pretending that I was driving it. He had the car for about 25 years, then it caught fire after a Sunday drive and was pretty much a total loss (I don't know the exact circumstance, other than it happened in the driveway after he went in the house and the car was already gone before the fire was extinguished). I was mad because I told him that if he ever sold it, I would buy it.

By the time I was ready to buy my first new car, it was 2002, and the Z's had vanished from the new automobile landscape. Out of everything I test drove, the Subaru Impreza WRX was the best car available. Talk about poor timing, Nissan released the 350Z the following year, and the following year, Subaru released the STi version of the WRX. I decided to keep my WRX for the time being, at least until it was paid off. I was ready to buy again in 2007, and started looking at the 350Z's. I ended up waiting a little longer, as I had to relocate to the west coast for a year, and I heard rumors of the new Z. I saw the 370Z in person at the Baltimore Auto Show, and upon seeing it, and sitting inside it, I got out and said "This is my next car." Sure enough, here I am. I bought the car on Friday and am still in a state of disbelief.

Congrats on the buy, glad to see things worked out for you and you got the car you wanted.

Thanks! You all appear to be a great group of enthusiasts/owners. I browsed on this forum quite a bit before buying my 370Z, the site has thus far been a great wealth of information and I am sure that it will continue to be as long as I own my Z. Hopefully I can contribute and help out as well.

Thanks. It's a little dirty, so I think the first thing that I am going to do this weekend is wash it. As far as the Navigation System, yeah, I was pretty much sold after playing with it at Sheehy. It's so much more than just navigation, I love how it displays the car information, HVAC, and integrates with the phone and stereo. The voice recognition is awesome, I love saying an address rather than having to pull off to the side and type it in (like I did with the Garmin). Searching is still a bit clunky, especially if I know the name of the place I want to find, but I am probably just not doing something right yet. Interesting note, the Nav screen will continue to display miles to empty when the trip computer goes to "---". It also really beats having to plug in the Garmin, set it on the dash, and take it out whenever I leave the car.

Looks great! It is DEF worth the wait!

BTW, I just ordered my windshiled sun shade. I was going to order the one you have but ended up with the UV heat shield one!

The Z Store! Nissan-Datsun 240Z-260Z-280Z-280ZX-300ZX(Z31/Z32)-350Z-370Z Parts: UV Sunshield, 2009 370Z

Quote:
Description:
UV Heat Shields help reduce interior temperature and protect the interior from damaging sun rays that penetrate the front windshield. Our heat shields are custom patterned to follow the outline of the windshield, and insulated to provide protection from the #1 source of interior damage, cracking, and fading: the Sun. They're easy to use - just unfold and position across the windshield surface, then fold the sun visors down to hold the shield in place. They are also easy to fold. With a silver reflective fabric on the outer side, soft felt on the inside, both fabrics are laminated to a foam-core board which acts as the insulator.

Got mine already

It fits well, just it'll slide down a bit between the glass and dash, and doesn't quite reach to the edges of the window.

That, and I'm trying to figure out where it needs to go when not in use. So far best place is behind the passenger seat. I'd put it in back, but I need a cargo net...

Speaking of which...time to place an order

Thanks and Good Luck! I looked for mine for awhile, almost bought a different color combo, but I am really glad I waited, because I love the Platinum Graphite color.
