Another one bites the Z...

Hey guys, I've picked up my new 2012 Magnetic Black 6SP-MT about an hour ago; did the usual coffee-bean-and-tea-leaf run with my buddy and drove us back to work.

I love this thing, so far got 45 miles on it heh, virgin...

Anyway, I'll post pics wen I get home, no rush since everyone's seen one heh heh :)

I've got a list of mods I'll do wen I hit around 2K miles on it.

1st thing oil cooler, 2nd a good lowering kit (about 1 inch or so will do).

The car is freaking amazing, and I dunno how people can say it is hard to drive, it is a lot easier to drive than my old Mustang, GTi and Toyota Tacoma...

Doesn't really matter, I'm planning to start slow, simple basic needs first. Oil cooler to make sure the engine is running at proper temps, it gets hot here in the summer especially. I'll probably address the ride height and then AEM dryflow air filters, Z1 Silicone Post-MAF Intake Hoses, K&N Drop-In Air Filter, JWT Dual POP Intake (meby).

We'll see.

Congrats and welcome. I have 1.5k and had pretty much all of my mods done before I hit 500.

Congrats!!!

FYI, I got the same thign you bought, 2012 also. With the stock cooler you won't need an additional cooler unless you are planning on tracking. The stock cooler, even with hard driving you wont see more than 260.

I'm concerned about the whole '220F' and the low end torque is toast thing.

Are you noticing any of that? There's a number of threads related to people raising concerns for that issue.

I know about the 280F aka limp-engine-protection mode, but that's for temps over 220F.

I have about 12K miles, pretty much mostly track, about 12-14 track days since I bought it in Nov-Dec of last year....I think too many people pay too much attention to the temp gauge lol. With the stock cooler on a 2012 you are fine unless u plan to track in the summer. Even with a 34 row cooler at the track I still hit 265 deg or so, it just doesn't go past that.

This engine runs hot and dirty, just need to do oil changes more often....

Congrats n welcome!!!

welcome!

Congrats and welcome! the Z is an AMAZING car!

binary0x01 07-05-2012 03:26 PM

Just over 560 Miles on the odometer... this car makes me smile every time I walk up next to it. I look at any other car next to mine and just grin. The shifting is getting smoother every session, can't wait to redline it a wee bit before the first oil change.

I wanna pay a visit to specialty Z here in SoCal, find out from them dudes what mods I should do and what I should do by myself and what I should have them do.

Anyway, just a pointless post from another satisfied Z driver... :)
