4 days in, all smiles.

Bought my Z last weekend, just the base manual. Aside from all of my black car anxieties rushing back I have thoroughly enjoyed the car so far. Actually, one thing I don't get is why the front chin spoiler was in the car but the dealer said it could only be put on sport models. It's bothering me - I want it on there! lol

Windows are tinted, intakes next. I'll look around and see what everyone has done. What else? Do we have a facebook group yet?

Where did you buy yours from?

webgirl 06-11-2009 11:30 AM

I bought it from Gwinnett. I visited every other dealer before them tho. Are you looking to buy?

semtex 06-11-2009 11:47 AM

Welcome! The base model and sport pkg are not mutually exclusive. There are two trim lines -- Base and Touring. You can add the sport pkg to either one. Do you have the sport pkg? Easy way tell is by your wheels. Are they the 18" ones? Or the 19" Rays? Do you have SRM (Synchro Rev Match)? Either way, your dealer is an idiot. I know this because I bought mine from the same one. Same deal -- front chin spoiler in the trunk. The BS line they gave me was that it was already installed and the one in the trunk was a spare. I took delivery of my car at 9pm in January. It was dark and cold, so I didn't feel like crawling under the front of the car to verify. Come the next day, I easily see in plain daylight that it wasn't installed. I went back and tore them a new one. Make them put it on. You can't do it yourself because it's attached with rivets, and you need a rivet tool to attach it.

Gwinnett Place I'm assuming. Yes, I was thinking of going there. They are just a few miles from where I live.

webgirl 06-11-2009 11:56 AM

LOL I know the difference between the packages - even though I don't have any packages. ;) That's kind of annoying that they didn't put it on even though they knew it goes on there. Not to mention the fact that i'm down on my hands and knees in the bay feeling out the spots where it goes while he's waving the damn thing around trying to figure out which way was up. I have a rivet gun and the little bag of hardware the spoiler came with.. It's going on this weekend. It needs it, it looks funny to me without it.

Mike Morris was who I dealt with, ask for him when you go. He's good people.

semtex 06-11-2009 12:05 PM

So....do you have the sport pkg or not? Just curious.

ok thanx. did they offer you the sport package in the same color? nissanusa.com inventory says they have one but GP's site inventory doesn't show any of them having the sport package.

Well then congrats on getting a freebie chin spoiler. (I'm assuming you didn't pay for it separately.)

No, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. Do you want me to ask him for you?

No, that's why I didn't understand it being there if it only goes on a sport pack. So is that correct what they told me? Can I still get it on there?

How much did you pay for the spoiler? I need it BADLY!!!

Umm, at least a grand. I'll sell you mine if you realllly need it.

Kidding. ;) It was in there with a couple other bits. The bag says 'guide assy - air, f r.' Dunno, it looks like a mud flap to me. Also, a front license plate mount that anyone is welcome to. I won't use it.

Good idea. :) I hope they still have the one you're looking for. I can see Capitol City from my balcony and it doesn't look like they have very much at all. They had one for a while that was loaded up. I had to watch people take off on test drives in it all day. lol

xiven 06-11-2009 12:25 PM

If they don't have it I know Team Nissan in Marietta has one as of yesterday. I don't think these are selling alot around here. If they are, then people aren't driving them when I'm on the road.

Thanks! I found a few on FB, they're kinda random though. This one has the most members.

That's fine with me. I hate passing myself on the road. I didn't make it to Team Nissan. How many Nissan dealers are around here? They're like Starbuck's.

xiven 06-11-2009 12:39 PM

I think I've look online at 6 or 7 dealerships. I only see my neighbor's when we leave at the same time (which doesn't happen often). I'm not sure where he got his at though. I think he got his back in March.

Welcome to the forums :hello:. Can you post picture of the chin spoiler?Because EVERY Z comes with a thin long air dam/chin spoiler. The spoiler on the sports package is two pieces. I didn't install mine because roads here are not good.

How about some pictures of your car? :pics: :excited:

We have our own facebook account. I'm using a computer with firewall that blocks it. I'll post later.

What they told you is correct. It's part of the sport pkg, so if you don't have the sport pkg., they shouldn't have put that front spoiler in your car (hence my 'freebie' remark). But you should be able to still get it on. Just because you didn't get the sport pkg doesn't mean the mounting holes aren't there. Indeed, I'd be very surprised if they manufactured a different front fascia for cars with sport pkg vs. those without, as it's more cost effective to just make one.

These other bits -- are they two little mud flap looking things? Same color as the chin spoiler? Because there are actually two little air dams that mount in front of the front wheels, and they come with the chin spoiler. The front aero bits actually consist of three separate pieces.

ChrisSlicks 06-11-2009 12:52 PM

Congrats on the car. It brings lots of smiles, the harder you drive it the bigger the smile.

Random is right. Judging by the number of high school kids I would say only a small fraction are actually owners. Need a 370Z Owners group.

You sure about that AK? I'm pretty sure the front chin pieces (3 total) only come with the SP. See the screenshot below I just took from the nissanusa spec page.

That's the one I was talking about. It comes stock with all Zs. Maybe dealer got lazy and didn't install it.

semtex 06-11-2009 01:06 PM

Actually, if I remember correctly, that lip in your pics is part of the front fascia. Like when you pull the front fascia off (to install intakes), it comes along for the ride.

Edit: the pic below shows my car with the front fascia removed. Notice that the lip in your pics is in front of the front bolt holes for the undertray. In my pic, you can see those holes, and see that there is no lip attached in front of them -- that's because the lip is attached to the fascia.

I can't keep up with you guys. Thank god I got my work done before I got on here today.

LOL I always enjoy the walk back from the store to the car. I have really missed that the last couple months.

Yes, you DO have the sports package chin spoiler. Are you planning on putting it on?

Yep, those get mounted in front of the tires. No need for any special tools. Regular sockets work just fine (10mm, if I remember right).

Good looking car!
