Today is the day! Black Cherry 2010 6MT Fully Loaded
I'll be leaving to the dealer here in about 45 minutes to pick up my car. I hope all goes well and I drive back home with my new 370Z. I'm trading in my 5AT 350Z which I had modded considerably (full bolt-ons, ECU tune, suspension, wheels, etc.). It was a nice and quick ride, but I always felt it could use more in numerous areas like high-end pull (5-speed gearing hurt acceleration past 105MPH), and consistent/flat torque, two things that I think would've hurt the car if it saw a full track. Even with my mods, the 370Z still feels much quicker, and that's what shocked me the most.
Then there were aesthetic qualities, such as the interior, that really started to nerve me. The 370Z's interior, especially when fully loaded, is so beautiful that I just knew it was time to let the 350Z go. I just couldn't tolerate the cheapness of the 350Z anymore. Anyways, wish me luck. The day is today and it feels almost too good to be true. Hopefully my next post will include pics! |
Good luck! We will look forward to some pics of your Z.

This is my first stick car and it's a challenge, but I'm really trying to get a hang of this. I complained about the clutch in the 350Z, but refinement and smoothness have made the 370Z's clutch lack feel and feedback. It catches high and it's going to require muscle memory to remember where exactly it grabs. I'm not ashamed to say this, but I was practicing starting and stopping in a parking lot, and I stalled the car a little more than 10 times in the span of 45 minutes. Towards those last 15-20 minutes, I got progressively better, to the point where I'd do close to 20 starts without a stall...and when I did finally stall, it was thanks to an itch. But I'm determined to be perfect at this, because like someone said, I'm in love. I'm a huge gearhead, and while I loved my 350Z, the 5AT wasn't cutting it for me, as far as fun factor...and the interior's cheapness really grew thin. The car is pretty filthy right now. I'm going to clean it up tomorrow and post some pics. |
Congratulations!

awesome! can't wait to see it at the meet this week.
|
Very nice. Congratulations!
|
Awesome! Let the modding begin! start with wheel spacers! lol
|
Already have 15s for the rear. May leave the fronts alone since I don't want to replace studs. Can anyone explain why spacers don't work for the front end? On 350Zs there was a stud you could just screw out. What makes the 370Z different?

I run 20mm rear and 15mm front. Looks the best IMHO.... http://www.the370z.com/members/wheee...-20mm-rear.jpg |

supposedly bolt on spacers are perfectly fine, but i feel much more comfortable with the idea of stude replacement.
|
I used bolt-on spacers on my 350Z for a long time. Never any issues. I just find it weird that even some of the websites say you can't use bolt-on spacers on the front.

Hey, Arnolds hooking me up with some winter tires in a few hours, so I may drop a line in here with my .02
I have 20mm up front and 25mm in the rear.. Bolt on's in the rear and H&R stud replacement in the front. I had 20mm Ichiba built in studs up front and created vibration at speeds over 70mph, something you do not want any of in our Z's... H&R stud replacement ( simple to install ) worked out perfectly with no vibration... Pics in my album |

Go stud replacement. Nuff said! |
Thanks, everyone. I'll look into that. I'm going to slap the Eibach 15s I have now on the rear.
|
I'm also getting a hang for the car and the clutch. Drove it a bunch yesterday night after meeting up with Chuck. Had a great time. It's a brilliant car.
|
So with 500 miles on the clock, I've noticed that the car is actually able to roll on the clutch. Before when it was new, it was pretty much impossible to get it to creep, but now it almost effortlessly rolls enough to let off the clutch without any throttle.
I remember years ago when my dad had an Infiniti FX35 the car wouldn't reverse without throttle, after about 500 miles, it became the total opposite and you had to hold the brake down so it wouldn't reverse too fast. |

I had 42000 on a 2006. That's pretty good. Don't forget, I have the Audi as a second car too for the bad weather (snow & rain). Plus I've been stupidly busy with work and by the time I wanna drive, I'm too tired and it's too late.
But, I did put 120 miles on it in the past two days. :) |
bought the same car (touring) in October and love it, lots of comments on the color
|
Congrats! :hello:
