maybe you can get DI the next production run... maybe that's why they're having a long break in between?

But being in Canada, can you not just go south and grab one from the US?

The configuration is a little different for us in Canada. I don't know what all the differences are, but I know at least that our speedometer is in km/h whereas the Americans get mph. Looking at the threads about DIY fog lamp installations, it seems that our wiring to the back may be a bit different too along with a slightly different turn signal stock. So maybe they need a critical mass before deciding to build some destined for Canada.

I could actually save quite a bit of money even considering the exchange rate and the duty that I'd have to pay. But apart from not wanting a car with mph and whatever else, it can get kind of political too. It used to be that it would cost $1.15CAD - $1.25CAD to buy $1.00US so we were used to seeing the prices of things in the US to be 20% - 30% less in US$ than what we would see in CAD$ up here. More recently though, the exchange has been around $1.05 (we've even been at par and beyond a few times) so there was a bit of an uproar when we still saw the same car selling for $30,000US in the states would sell for $40,000CAD. People starting flooding over the border to buy their cars, mph be damned. So much so that manufacturers started banning dealers near the border selling to people who didn't have an American address, or so the story goes. And I don't know what kind of reception someone might get when they tried to service their American bought car at their local dealer in Canada. I'm not a rock-the-boat kind of guy, so I'm happy to patiently wait for my Canadian car. Though it's a little tougher now that spring seems to have sprung for us!

well the cabin air filter can actually be installed in a 2009 for the price of the 15 dollar filter. and the radio stuff can be dealt with by buying a base with the leather interior and just putting in a nice double din touchscreen nav headunit (that will sound better than the bose and connect to more devices better). the only thing you would lose are the heated mirrors, so if that is acceptable you could probably find another car in your area now and have the interior changed and radio installed long before a new one could be built.

How can you buy a base model with Leather interior? I thought you could only get leather if you upgraded to the Touring model?

Me To

Ordered my 2010 Black on Black full load in mid April. Trading in my 2008 350. I am in the SW Ontario region. Suppose to have it end of June, early July. I have all my Stillen stuff ready for install the minute it gets here. Have you got an ETA from your dealer yet?

prichardson 06-03-2010 07:38 AM

Yes, in fact I finally picked it up on May 7. I definitely wasn't thrilled with my purchasing experience, but in the end they got me what I wanted for a price I was comfortable with. It was worth the wait! I just finished off the break-in period so have really been revelling in it!

Hopefully your wait isn't too excruciating, but seeing as how your driving an almost new 350 I'm guessing you'll be able to suffer through it just fine!

Just to add for anyone that is wondering about Canadian orders...

I 'ordered' mine on May 15th. The dealer said there was one in Edmonton with 200km if I wanted it. I declined and they said one would come from Japan (White w/ Sport) middle of June. I guess they already had one on the boat because it arrived in Calgary on Monday, May 31. The dealer actually got two 370Z. So if you ordered one in the last month or so and are waiting for it to arrive I'd imagine you'll be getting it soon.

I ordered mine on March 8. Dealer told me it'll take 12 weeks and now they told me maybe it'll be in end of this month. It's taking forever.

prichardson 06-04-2010 07:26 AM

I got confirmation on Feb 18 that they would produce my car starting in March, though they didn't say when in March the production would actually start. It arrived at the dealership on May 4. They prepped it and I picked it up on May 7. So from order confirmation to pickup was 11 weeks + 1 day.
