MR Works headlights - 2theextreme project
Hey all! About 2 months ago I contacted Marco @ MR Works to discuss modifying my headlights. What follows are photos of the design and how they turned out installed on my 370.
After confirming with Marco & Ryan about the design I wanted I went a slightly different way than others might. I actually purchased a brand new set of headlights through Z1 Motorsports (a sponsor on the board) and they sent them out to San Diego for modification. Once they arrived, Marco & Ryan began work on them and sent some photos in the early stages: http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/13713950.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/14611729.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/19740873.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/32037022.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/55039792.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/63135529.jpg Now, some photos of the shrouds installed back into the flat black housing. I chose flat black so that it would match my flat black Volk TE-37's. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/10595821.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/39271381.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/59697461.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/72177276.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/94422471.jpg Now, let's turn these bad boys on.....I asked for Landing Strips, Angel Eyes, and Demon Eyes. They also upgraded my parking light to a much brighter LED. http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/17558274.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/18066519.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/25059751.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/38292184.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/46043402.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/64601926.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/70928144.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...s/82938629.jpg Next post will include the final look after install. I had them professionally installed. I did not do it myself but I'm sure if you are good with wiring (MR Works can supply you with install instructions for your vehicle if desired) you can do it. |
I've already seen these mothers in person! w00t.
|
Look good Tony.
|
Damn Tony! They look :yum:
|
Marco & Ryan completed my project within about 3 to 4 weeks. Once I received my headlights I made arrangements to get them installed along with some CF parts. Below are photos of how my 370 looks now.....we call it "The Smurf"!
http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/004.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/003.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/005.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/003-1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/004-1.jpg I have the Landing Strips designed to turn on as soon I turn my parking or headlights on. MR Works included a switch (ON when pushed up, OFF when the switch is in the center position, and ON again in the down position) which controls the Angel and Demon Eyes. I had the switch installed between the heated seat switches. The same place the roadster has the switch that controls the convertible top. Just one thing I have to remember.....if I have the Angel or Demon on I must remember to turn them off. Currently they aren't set to turn off like the headlights (no timer). Let there be modified light!! http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/010-1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/011-1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/012-1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...lled/013-1.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/006.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/007.jpg How about some nighttime shots? http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/012.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/014.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/015.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/020.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/024.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...talled/026.jpg So, there you have it! I am a very pleased and happy customer! I just had my first car meet yesterday (April 18) and the headlights were the big draw and discussion on my Z. I was more than happy to let people know: I had my headlights designed by Marco & Ryan at MR Works. Also, I sent my original OEM headlights back to MR Works as they "bought" them from me. Those turned into the next "core set" which I understand has already been turned around into a new set of MR Work headlights....these guys are fast! ;) My upgrade included the following: MR Works Modded Headlights: - Housing Flat Black (to match the Volk TE-37's) - Projector Shrouds - Color-coded (Blue) - Turn Signal Shroud - Color-coded (Blue) - Reflector Strip - Color-coded (Blue) - On/Off/On Switch (to control which modifications come on & when) - MR Angel Eyes Projector LED's (White) - Demon Eye (Blue) - Projector Demon - Parking Light Demon - LED design on vertical landing strip (White) |
Soo hot! Those look amazing! Congrats!
|
note to self: in time, in time.
|
Damn those look impressive.. and I love the options you have with what I assume is switches to vary the lighting areas..
Still get the Short Circuit Johnny Five vibe.. but the good news is it's the angry version when he's pulling out the shoulder mounted laser and people are "bad".. and he's about to reek havoc.. ;) Impressive stuff.. |
MR Works FTW!
|
Thanks everyone! Just one other point I'd like to make.....the average turn around for MR Works to complete a job is between 3 to 14 days depending on the complexity of the modification. In my case MR Works completed mine in between other projects that were already going. They worked very hard to get these completed well before my requested time which was before Z Dayz! :p And they acheived it with no problems!
|
Looks awesome Tony!!!! I loveeee you carrr... plus theres a special place in my heart for blue cars with matte accents lol.. Let us know if your ever in San Diego!

Damn you Tony! Every time I try to do something you haven't done yet you go and do it! :bowrofl: Your Z is the most awesome (aside from the Red Dragon) I've seen. We should get a mag shoot done of those two together demonstrating how much power/customization is possble with the 370.
They look AMAZING. This by far seals it I will probably do the same route ordering a set from Z1 and having them work on those so I don't have to have downtime with my car. :happydance: MRWorks I look forward to working on this with you and will probably have a very similar request to Tony's! :iagree: My god those just look amazing  :excited: |

Decided it was time for a video to showcase the hard work that Marco & Ryan put into this project.
This video will show my headlights in the following order: 1. Landing strips & upgraded parking lights 2. Landing strips & upgraded parking lights & Angel Eyes 3. Landing strips & upgraded parking lights & Blue Demon Eyes 4. Blue Demon Eyes only They were a huge hit at my first car show....had quite a few people stopping and asking how and who did my headlight modification. MR Works, baby! :woot: |

But I was wondering about some random thoughts as I was watching this... (MRWorks feel free to answer as well if you have knowledge of these ideas) 1. How does it look when your INSIDE the car, looking forward? I don't imagine you do, but if you did, I wonder if the LED's would put out enough light to see in front of you? 2. Can you turn on the demon eyes at the same time as the headlights? If yes, how does that look, and if not, is that a matter of wiring, or the led's melting, or something else preventing it? 3. Is there anyway to have the demon eyes wired in along with the high beams hypothetically? Like say if I'm in my Z and I wanna say hey to a Z coming the other direction, could I 'blink' the demon eyes at him, or is it possible to wire them up somehow to be controlled individually through a switch in the cabin? I think what would be cool. lol |
The headlight bulbs would over power the demon eyes.
