Moving to Canada, selling my guns

Hi guys,

Well, I know I haven't been on the forum for a while. Indeed, it's been so long that I'm sure some newer members don't even know who I am. I've been absent because I've been going through both divorce and job loss at the same time. It's been a tough period. Anyway, I've lived in Georgia for the past 16 years, and I've built up a decent sized gun collection. I'm moving back home to Canada now (Calgary), and I can't bring them with me. It breaks my heart, but it is what it is. I may not even be able to bring my Z, which also breaks my heart.

If anyone is interested in buying some of these from me, please PM me. Unfortunately, I think this sale will have to be limited to those who live in GA or are willing to meet me to pick up the firearm. I'm not 100% positive, but I think if I ship one out of state, it has to go to an FFL dealer or something.

Here's what I have, along with what I'm asking for each:

Ed Brown Kobra Carry ($1700)

- Harris bipod

Kimber Ultra Covert II ($1100)

Nighthawk Custom T3 ($2400)

Nighthawk Custom GRP ($2000)

"whats in your trunk" :icon14:

wheee! 07-28-2010 01:56 PM

Hey Hey! Welcome to Canada (again) and if you're coming to Calgary, you might as well keep your guns! You don't want to be the only redneck in town with just a baseball bat.... :icon17:

Seriously, you should be able to find a way to keep them coming to Canada. Unless it is merely a financial decision, in which case, GLWS and hope things get brighter for you in the future!

:tiphat:

Jeffblue 07-28-2010 02:22 PM

throw them in the hatch of the Z, leave the cargo cover open. At the border, when they ask you if you have any weapons, say 'no'.

should make things interesting

bullitt5897 07-28-2010 02:27 PM

Ben,

I hope things get better bro!

rreign 07-28-2010 04:08 PM

I'm sorry to hear this Ben. I wish I could be there for you financially like you were with me man. I'm a Marine ya know, so I'll see what sales I can make for you on the side. I'm gonna print this page and show some friends what you got. I hope I can help as much as possible bro. GL with everything.

I appreciate it man. I really do.

dad 07-28-2010 05:09 PM

I know, deep down inside you wouldn't part with your weapons unless you really had too. Sorry to see this!

370Zsteve 07-28-2010 05:53 PM

Good luck with everything, Ben.

damn I wish I lived nearby

KillerBee370 07-28-2010 06:37 PM

Some nice iron there! The ones I want are too much $$.

Really want that M-4T and I wouldn't mind that Kobra Carry either.

Edit: I didn't mean overpriced, I just meant I can't afford 'em right now. GLWS.

menzzer37 07-28-2010 07:39 PM

I've gotta rep you. +1 for a serious 1911 owner. Those are quality pieces. Being a 1911 aficionado myself, I approve! Beautiful, quality weapons. You can never go wrong with Wilson or Brown!

m4a1mustang 07-28-2010 07:42 PM

Good luck, Ben. Sorry to see you have to let them go. If I had the cash I'd be all over that M4-T right now.

Did the recent job you landed not work out?

Nope, it was a bit of a disaster. My new boss's management philosophy was just too much for me. He said that there are only two types of employees in his universe: superstars and f*ckups. Then he proceeded to tell me that the pressure's on. With all my other pressures in life from divorce and losing my home and bankruptcy, I just shut down and couldn't cope. I just totally shut down. I damn well nearly swallowed one of these guns and pulled the trigger last week.

Sorry to hear man. It's amazing that with all we know about workplace psychology, employee motivation, retention, productivity, etc., we can stil have pricks in management.

I've love to take one of the pocket canons off your hands if I were local. That sig has my name all over it.

hazzazi 07-29-2010 07:28 PM

sorry to hear, good luck with everything... i'm sure things will get better in the future.

Actually, does ATF in fact have a regulation against private sales of firearms between states? I mean really, if I put a weapon in its box, and then put that inside a Priority Mail box and send it to AZ, what's the harm?

Question...

I might be interested in that M-4 and in getting it, I would surely hide it away as I don't think it's on the California list of approved firearms. I've got no problem with that but my question is, when you sell a gun, you normally have to complete a transfer in order to release you from liability. How would we get around this?

Since it's definitely going to be off the books on my end... you could just report it stolen for all I care but... ?

DIGItonium 07-29-2010 11:13 PM

Sad to hear... you've come a long way modding your car, but I hope you'll still be around and get another Z when things turn around! We'll still be here :)

Sorry man... I don't know squat about guns, but I'll point your thread to my cousin.

Pushing_Tin 07-30-2010 02:02 AM

Ben, really sorry to hear about all of the sh*t you're going through. I'm not on here as much as some others and I had no idea of the stress and turmoil you've been dealing with. I am all set on guns, but I hope the move is a positive turning point in your life and hope you stick around here even if you have to sell the Z.

KillerBee370 07-30-2010 02:09 AM

I too hope things turn around for you bro. That which doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger.

Besides, I understand that there are more unicorns in Canada than here anyhow FTW! (sometimes laughter is the best medicine)

Guns don't get registered here in Georgia. And private sale is permitted. So I'm not sure about this transfer order thing. Let's say a gun is used in a crime, and ATF traces the serial to the gun store that sold it. They contact the gun store and want to know who they sold it to, they point ATF to me. ATF contacts me, and I tell them "Yeah I sold it to some dude years ago." As far as I'm concerned, that's it. Done deal. Especially considering that I'll most likely be nowhere near where this hypothetical crime was committed, I'm not worried. Who did I sell it to? Some dude I used to work with here in GA (which makes it legal). Sorry man, I can't remember his name, he had a flatulence problem so I usually stayed away from him.

Omg I'm already encountering some funny crap, like Canadians who actually believe they get their healthcare for free. LOL. I'm moving to Calgary, which apparently is the most conservative city in Canada. This does not bode well for me, because I think they're all pinko lefties there when compared to my own political views. Should be fun. I can see it now. "I don't understand, officer, what do you mean I wasn't entitled to kill him 'just' because he broke into my home? What was I supposed to do? Offer him a cup of coffee?" :roflpuke2:

SmoothZ 07-30-2010 08:06 AM

That view would be liberal instead of conservative. I could be wrong, but conservatives believe in guns and protecting their own. Liberals would offer coffee and a free hand job.

Hey Ben, in regards to KillerBee's question, you can write up a bill of sale with the firearm's name, serial #, date of purchase, date of transfer and you are good as long as you both sign and date it. So maybe just fax some stuff back and forth, then you're good.

Next note, I think I have some potential buyers for you. 2 or 3 of which are in Georgia (Augusta area) and the other 2 are in SC. I'll keep you posted on what weapons they are looking at and if/when they want to purchase. Are the prices firm or can you negotiate a little. I won't let them try to lowball you, trust me on that.

Oh I see. That differs from here in Ca. where guns are registered. I just sold one to a buddy of mine but we are required to go to a registered reseller and fill out paperwork to "transfer" the weapon (with 10 day wait period).

Sounds good.. I'll let you know. Trying to figure out how I can legally get 3K quick... :p
