Suggestion on alignment shops? Preferably in the Naperville area? I did a quick search and only firestones and ntb ccame up. No way I'm taking the Z there...

Ni55anPat 03-23-2014 10:15 AM

1. Thalmann Alignment in Northbrook

2. Touge Factory in Wheeling.

Only places i would go & i plan on visiting one of those within the next couple weeks (depends on openings)

You don't trust Gerald Nissan in Naperville?

Nope. Went there last time, and they wouldn't give me my normal service guy. The guy that did it did not give me a print out, so I asked to see the settings before he took it off the rack. As expected, he got it within spec, but didn't take the time to make sure settings were equal left and right. I had to argue with him to get him to make both sides even (seemed like a lazy 'mechanic'). They didn't show me the specs after I insisted they make it even L/R, so I have a feeling they didn't even correct it.

Now that my car is lowered I definitely will not take it there. I'd rather a performance shop because they'll let me dictate my specs. Gerald was only concerned about getting the numbers 'in OEM spec' without regard to L/R balance. Unacceptable, and I typically get good service there.

Thalmann's is a hike from Naperville, but I may head that way.

Ken, did he take the time to make sure the settings were equal left and right? I'm assuming no issues getting the Z on the rack with Swift springs? How much was it?

They have an in ground rack! :happydance: and yes he took the time to make sure and even asked me what my preferences are for the camber. I believe it was 120. Fyi cash or check only.

Do you have another car to drive? The exhaust drone will not be acceptable on the highway.

Also depends on which FI you get. Un-Resonated, 12", 18" ?

wettone10 03-24-2014 11:14 AM

Thinking 18" on cbe and also resonated test pipes.

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jlo370z 03-24-2014 11:30 AM

have some 12" resonated HFC's coming off my car this week ;)

wettone10 03-24-2014 11:31 AM

Yea. I'm pretty much debating on test pipes or HFCs

wettone10 03-24-2014 11:39 AM

First off id like to mention that my power goal is about 400hp. I would love to do FI, however not in budget so what ever I can bolt on and get tuned to get me there would be best!!

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

jlo370z 03-24-2014 11:40 AM

you won't get to 400 without fi

wettone10 03-24-2014 11:42 AM

Not even to the crank??

long tube headers/ intake is good for 320-330 hp

hfc/cbe and intakes good for 304-320 with a tune

thats at the wheel and dependent on the dyno

1badZ 03-24-2014 11:44 AM

You can get 400 to the crank with bolt ons but not whp

Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk

wettone10 03-24-2014 11:46 AM

Ok. I was thinking hfc/cbe/maybe shorty headers/intake/intake manifold mod/tune

Honestly, for the cost of all those NA mods, if you save up a little more, you could get a BP FI kit.

This is why I'm not modding the engine any further than my Post MAFs and CBE. I know I'll go FI, so I don't want to waste the money on NA mods.

Even with the bp kit once you tag on supporting mods your still looking at 12-15k. N.a. mods shouldn't cost more than 3k

I agree. I was trying to add up my list of potential NA mods and I couldn't even get close to a full FI build.

wettone10 03-24-2014 05:50 PM

Yea. I would love to go FI. I Think 400hp or as close as I can with bolt ons will by fine

Mine was 375hp/325whp on a Mustang dyno with I/LTH/Ex/Tune just fyi. Also dont boost unless you have some deeper pockets you will need to tap into it along the way for unexpected things.

Also the Z has issues putting down the power when you boost, even with my 295 rear AD08's I was spinning going into second and that was with an auto.....

Plus bolt-on Z's can run mid 12's and fi Z's are running mid 11's you have to decide if 15k is worth a second on your quartermile time....
