How much did they charge? I'm looking for a tune as well... Might be more towards the summer as I am probably going to get the Y-pipe around then. And what do you need for a tune? I know there are different programs out there and you need to get a license for it.

Depends on what type of tune it is. Some will use the software and tune it for you, others you have to get the software to do it. Correct me if I am wrong, but i believe the most common type for the Z us upRev and there you have to have someone with the license for it in order to do it.

Did you get to choose maps? Like valet mode, or economy? I'm looking for something more dynamic than just a standard tune.

I like the sound. I could go elsewhere but I have heard the FI HFC and CBExhaust working great, and I figured might as well get all from one manufacturer. Heck, I might even wear a promo sticker here and there if they want to. The car will be a track car at some point anyway

Gilianz 01-30-2014 09:14 PM

Yeah, I was thinking of UpRev but I don't know if MKC has the license or not to do it or if I have to purchase it for them to be able to do it. I guess I will have to give them a call when time time comes to find out pricing for the tune. Unless someone else could enlighten me more about this subject.

They do have their UpRev license. Only one in KC area. The nearest one other than them in just outside STL.

i think he loaded a valet map on there, but i've never switched it over. IIRC the dyno tuning was $350-400, but i have my own uprev cable and license. so im sure it will be a little more since u will have to get the license thru him. however, with MKC being a licensed uprev dealer, they get tech support and whatnot from uprev if you want to set up any trick maps or anything. (i think uprevcracked into VVEL tuning a while back, so that MIGHT be a possibility to tune, but i wouldnt count on it)

anyways, chad and ryan at mkc are great guys and have always treated me well. plus thier shop has a great reputation in kc, so i would highly recommend them.

I'm totally wanting to go to that this year. anyone else going??

mcconned 01-31-2014 01:15 PM

Here is a guide to suggested drives down there. These drives start and end in Harrison, AR. just about 30 minutes or so south of Branson on US 65. I have done everyone of these and they are WAY cool!!

Hey, I don't know if anyone use's Griot's products on their Z, but Advance Auto is discontinuing Griot's spray wax, along with some other Griot's products. My store had 2 gallon containers of the spray wax for $15.35, I bought one and the other was still there as of last night. The added bonus: at my store, it's in the 50% off bin, so you can get the gallon for about $8. I'm at the store @ K7 & Monticello in Shawnee. If someone wants it, PM me ASAP & I'll hide it for you.

Not all will agree but this is tempting even though PDK. I'd love a sport/convertible again.

Your probably looking at a 911 though. There are some tempting 911 turbos out there but of course older.

edub370 02-04-2014 01:22 PM

indeed. 996 turbos are calling my name. the power and performance potential of those cars is insane

Better hurry everyday you wait the more the value of your Z is going down.

JacksonZ33 02-04-2014 11:25 PM

haha man i don't miss that part :ugh2:

if new z or idx suck then i'll buy deprecated 370. so bring it on, hope price drops on 34's fast :icon14:

but after seeing all those pictures of idx out and about in socal think its a must have.

Gilianz 02-06-2014 12:47 AM

How fast do you guys think FI Res TP will go on the WTS thread? I really am thinking about ditching it and going for just straight TP. I find my exhaust sound (as some of you heard that one FF) too quiet. It's nice when you step on it but I kinda want it a bit louder. Not sure if changing to regular TP will change that at all.

sboden 02-06-2014 07:20 AM

I think it depends on the price. I would think the volume would increase on a straight TP along with a different sound. It depends on how restrictive the FI Res TP was and I have not heard a with and without example so I don't know for sure.

I don't think moving to TP's are gonna solve the problem. Think you need a new exhaust. But changing to TP's is worth a try and the cheapest way to go.

edub370 02-06-2014 12:35 PM

taking out that resonator should add a little more volume. worth a shot

m3chhawk 02-06-2014 12:38 PM

I would keep your resonated until you try the non-res. May be too much rasp.

Gilianz 02-06-2014 02:02 PM

Hmm, I guess I will know exactly what my full system sounds like once I get the Tomei Y-pipe in the summer. One thing that concerns me is possibly having to get a new exhaust if i want more sound. I can't think of anything else that is sub $2000 that is JDM. I may consider changing to a Greddy Ti-C but I heard those are discontinued. FI sounds amazing but the wait may be too long.

Edit: So I looked, and it seems that the replacement for the Ti-C is the Evo3. The sound levels (from their measurements) are pretty loud but it seems as though the design would be similar to AAM Shortails.

Edit 2: I think I will be looking at the Tomei exhaust... Though it will be a single exit it will sound amazing. Only thing is I need to find someone to buy my current exhaust and using that to cover the new exhaust.

I mentioned the SCCA Road Rally School in a previous post. Here are the particulars. Please note, you do NOT have to be a member of the SCCA to participate. There is a limit of registrations so don't delay.

May be a long shot but I thought I would at least get a feeler and see if anyone local would want it. Looking to sell my APEX'i RS Evo Extreme exhaust. Right now looking at something around $1300. Pretty much just enough to cover my new exhaust. I got it for $1750 or $1800 I can't recall at the moment. And there is approx. 8,000+ miles on it.

edub370 02-08-2014 03:27 PM

only if i had the coin

Gilianz 02-08-2014 04:20 PM

Yeah, I'm expecting that I have to sell it on the Parts for Sale forum the problem being is that shipping exhausts are no fun... At least it's worth a shot to sell local first.

Dont let him fool you he has the coin lol

What exhaust do you want now?

Gilianz 02-08-2014 05:13 PM

Well, I really wanted to Tomei Expreme Ti when I was looking at exhausts but because it was for the 350z I assumed it did not fit. Now that Z1 has one on their car, I know it fits (requires a bit of grinding to the brace bar) and I want it. I know I'll be losing a bit on the exhaust but I would like enough to cover the new one... If it doesn't sell at all then I'm SoL. We'll see what happens more towards the end of this month when I can put up a For Sale thread. If it sells then yay new exhaust... if not then I still have a nice exhaust... just not as loud
