40th anniversary sitting outside my office in corporate woods..Anyone know who it is?
|
sure don't. havent seen a 40th ann. around this neck of the woods
btw, anyone wanna hit up the last ff of the year this week? |
ya ima go to last ff, just to show loyalty haha
on a side note, left my z sitting for last week and half and let just say she was not happy. stalled 3 times on my way to work. just needed to floor it a couple times, she happy again. but guess she's doomed to forever be driven daily. |
The mad rush that we were in has finally stopped. Plus I'll be off 151st @ 5pm so I will already be in the neighborhood.
|
So my z is defineatly fukd up.
Stalled middle of 87th/i35 intersection. Would crank, but never fire. Then will start up out of no where. Then stalled out while going 50mph. Died if it got too much gas, and at stop lights, even mid turn. Park it for an hour, then it's completely fine (both days same story) I've read everything from put my oem air box back on, to cam sensors, throttle body, bad gas, or failing fuel pump. No check engine light... Any ideas?? |
prolly not the cam sensor. i had that go out on my volvo that will throw a code and completely kill your car. like wouldnt work till i replaced it. it kinda just works or it doesn't. i would start by cleaning the maf. when that started giong in my volvo, it did the exact same thing u are describing. but, i got a check engine light. i guess a fuel pump could be the culprit. (maybe try changing the fuel filter?)
but i would take it to nissan. they can plug it in and watch voltages as your car starts stumbling to see whats not functioning correctly. one of othe very few times i would recommend going to nissan about it |
When you hit the gas does it sputter at all before it dies?
I had a fuel pump go out on me which had similar symptoms. Another sneaky one is the alternator, sometimes it will cut in and out for a while before it fully fails. |

fuel pump/filter - when it was going down, that was the first thing that came to my mind. sadly i agree, this may be one for nissan.:shakes head: they haz ultimate scan tool. problem is its not doing all the time. And I can't get across how hard that will be for me to take it there. Quote:
thought battery/alterantor, but i can sit and crank and crank 100 times (strong too) and it wont start. now im reading about fried ecu's (hints no code) or something faulty with the security chip in the key/ignition really waiting to see what happens tomorrow morning. |
From the sounds of it , I'm going to go with the fuel pump. I've had on go out and it did the same thing. If you floor it will sputtered and sometimes run smooth. Last option is the fuel filter. You could have water in tour fuel and it could be causing the issue. One last thing it could be is you pissed someone off and they put a marble or two in your gas tank. It runs fine until it's sucked up by the fuel line...then when the car is towed away it will start fine. Don't ask why I know this, cause I've never done this to anyone...ever.
|
There was a run of bad gas going around at the pumps for a while too, but fuel pump sounds more like it. Might sound crazy, but try resetting the ECU?
|
ya so didnt stall this morning.....
drove around my block for a lil, stuttered at one stop sign but never died. so then i drove to work, with no problems so much more frustrating when it doesn't act up all the time. makes diagnosing a nightmare. i just know it will do it friday night. |
