Just saw that you did on the clubs facebook page. You'll have to do the SCCA road event in the fall with the club.

Thanks everyone for showing up last night. Since the word "blast" has been used so many times to describe it, I'm trying to come up with another adjective..."Epic" maybe?!

When you get a chance, check out our website Heart of America Z Car Club under "Racing Events...." I have posted information on driving events at Heartland Park and Mid America Motorplex (MAM).

Events such as Touring Club (HPT), Fast Fridays (MAM) and NASA (HPT and MAM) are well well and regulated. These events give you a lot of track time so you can learn the limits of your cars and yourself. These do not require roll cages, fire extinguishers, driving suits, etc. You do need a track worthy car which will be inspected for tires, brakes, no loose stuff in the car or engine compartment. You must have a track approved helmet and requirements vary by track. If you have a SA2010 Snell rated helmet you should be OK.

For novices, instructors will be provided and once he thinks you "get it" he'll let you go solo.

This is NOT racing but, rather, a "high performance driving experience" where you have restrictions on where you pass, etc. Aggressive driving such as tail gating, passing in no passing zones, etc. will get you black flagged.

I have done HPT in my 300ZX and my 350Z and have done MAM in my 350Z. HPT is a little more "technical" with some elevation changes, etc. MAM, on the other hand, is flat as a table top and has a lot of room to screw up without damaging your car.

MAM is right up I-29 in Iowa, south of Omaha. Depending on where in the metro area you live, it can be only a 2-3 hour drive.

Enjoy the Ride!

any1 going to fast fridays tonight? haven't been since the first so

know a bunch of you can't, so prolly not going to buff before, just straight there. as well as prolly not staying too long.

JacksonZ33 06-14-2013 05:24 PM

Question ... Do any of you put any weight on the upcoming z? Heard rumors both going to going lighter, to diesels, to latest report going to be just newer verson of 370...

is it worth the wait.... Don't really know what we're getting. Could be waste of time. Don't even know how long have to wait...

Opinions??

sboden 06-14-2013 11:55 PM

I have not seen enough solid info to have an opinion. I want them to bring back turbos myself. I'd prefer they stay in the 30K price range though and not drop down to the FR-S range.

edub370 06-15-2013 08:07 AM

Heard the vq will be in the next z... Won't be a major power improvement. Vq needs to go imo

ZKraken22 06-15-2013 09:00 AM

The next Z is gonna be twice as good as the current mark my words. im putting a lot of weight on the next Z

JacksonZ33 06-15-2013 09:39 AM

True not enough details, but if they gave too much info no one would buy 370's

Could be like the subura, where the 06-07 are (were) worth more than the new 08's.

I for one like the vq's. long term very reliable, decent power. But yes turbo platform is highly desired among almost all current z owners

If its not till 2015 or even 2016. No way my 350 will last that long.

ZKraken22 06-15-2013 10:41 AM

Everyone is freaking out about the next Z. Nissan is doing a good job a keeping everything in house. I like how the VQ is being evolved direct injections is next less weight and it's gonna look killer. the Nismo and the NIsmo RS are gonna come up with 15% more HP then the base. Just watch.

Jackson just get a 370z, I know you wanna wait for the next Z. but it's gonna be a lot of money

m3chhawk 06-15-2013 11:19 AM

My :twocents::

Buy a 370Z.

Given they just did a redesign of the front end, you are looking at 2015-2016 for a new version. If they go lighter and cheaper, you aren't going to want one. If they go turbo, it will likely be 4-cylinder. The most desirable change is something more sexy with a turbo VQ (or the unlikely V8). However, this is going to come at a cost (~$45k for sport?)

For what a new Z will cost 2-3 years from now, you could have a twin turbo 2012 built exactly how you want it and drive it for a few years before the new ones are even released. That car would undoubtedly be better than any possible 2015-16 for quite a bit cheaper. Throw in the fact that we don't know what the car will be and the first two years will have "issues" (see steering lock, oil cooler, etc...) and I personally think it becomes more clear.

Or for the money, you could do a really clean LS swap in your 350Z :driving:

Just drove one for first time (sport+manual)

Was not disappointed....

Tho seems tame (feels stock) compared to my z.

Power difference only really noticeable on highway.

Rev-match was a bit of a cool trick

m3chhawk 06-15-2013 12:29 PM

When I went from my 350 to 370, the power felt more abundant but not as raw and sports car like as the 350.

I love rev match and given the brake kit, sport package was a must for me.
