That is one terribly drawn map! Why does the Main track seem like an access road?

I will be attending with the Mischief.tv crew and will be parked at their vendor booth. Stop by and check out the new shirt designs they will be selling along with other merchandise.

For anyone staying in the Martinsburg, Inwood or Winchester area.....if you plan on doing the night life scene, (plenty of strip clubs and bars around here) STAY OFF ROUTE 11 if you have been drinking!! They run checkpoints every weekend and troll that road non stop! Being that your driving "loud attention getting" cars....you'd be more apt to being pulled over!! Hate to hear of anyone getting a DUI. Hope to meet some of you peeps tomorrow!! Be safe!

Not A Good Weekend

Well Hyperfest did not go very well for me…

My clutch master cylinder or slave cylinder failed during my first session of the day. And it failed spectacularly. I went from normal shifting to having no ability to depress the clutch in one lap. Luckily (maybe the wrong word to use) I had this happen last year and I do know how to drive without a clutch.

So I limped her back into the paddock and jumped out of the car to see if I could make a quick fix. I noticed that my lights were on and thought I must have forgotten to turn the ignition off. So I leaned into the driver window and pressed the ignition button.

To my absolute horror my starter motor fired and my car began dragging me forward. How did this happen? Normally your car won’t start unless you are inside and have depressed the clutch pedal. There is a special switch to prevent this from happening.

But with a clutch cylinder failure the clutch pedal is stuck on the floor thus activating the switch…

Back to the action. I am desperately stabbing at the start/stop button and turning the steering wheel to avoid the two tire trailers in front of me. I am being dragged along in a busy paddock until my car finally runs into a concrete wall and stalls out.

So not only was my weekend ruined but now I serious damage to the front fascia. At least it happened in the paddock and insurance will cover it.

However, my wife was none too pleased and not very interested in spending any more money to address the clutch. My loss can be your gain. And I will be creating a separate post on all the forums soon. But I will give you first dibs.

I will be selling my track wheels with mounted Hoosier R6’s and one good spare R6 (18 x8 rims with 245/35/18 square setup). Plus 2 slightly corded R6’s (fine for autocross only). Also 4 aluminum hub-centric wheel inserts (replaced the cheap plastic ones) a bunch of lug nuts and 2 15mm spacers I have lying around.

Plus 2 very good 235/45/18 Blizzak LM22 tires and 2 225/45/18 Blizzak tires that would pass inspection but have serious camber wear on the outside.

I am willing to sell everything for $500 cash. Check out my album for more pictures. P.M. me if you are interested.

very sorry to hear that :(

MightyBobo 06-16-2013 10:46 AM

Oh ****! I'm sorry to hear that, RespIsa - that sucks! So you're getting out of the track scene completely now? Or are you selling the car?!

That track wheel setup is perfect for SOMEONE on this board...I'll see if I can find an interested party for ya.

ResIpsa 06-16-2013 10:55 AM

No. I am not getting out of the track scene. It's in my blood.

However, I may be done for the season until I get my clutch issue repaired.

And I had planned upgrading to a wider tire/rim setup anyway.

Phew, ok! Just making sure...

I'm running Proxes RA1's right now. 275 on 18x9.5" square. LOVE the setup. Not as sticky as the R6's I believe, but it's good for my driving level. One day, we'll run into each other at Summit.

Either way, there are people local who have been considering a dedicated track wheel/tire setup, cant see a better option than yours.

Yeah it really sucked. It was one thing to have a mechanical failure ruin my weekend but to then have a freak accident in the paddock. The pointless damage to my car…the embarrassment…

Man, I could have run someone over or taken out some $100,000.00 race car. At least no one got hurt other than my badly skinned knee (from being dragged about 20 feet).

Yeah, definitely.

If it makes you feel better, when we were there a month ago, we visited the gift shop at Main where some event was going on. We park, get out, and here a loud KER-KLUNK - some dude didnt secure his car properly onto his trailer, and it rolled right off and fell a solid 2 feet to the ground. Saw him sprint to hop into the window and pull the brake before it went too far.
