Leaving for Tokyo tomorrow morning - anything I should pick up?

No I do not want a $300 ARC oil filler cap.

Anything JDM I can pick up worth picking up while I'm over there?
The catch is that I need to be able to carry it with me on an airplane.

Open to suggestions.

I hear they sell underwear in vending machines there...

dmhenderson 05-11-2013 10:21 PM

I was going for something a little more z related and a lot less creepy.

XwChriswX 05-11-2013 10:33 PM

RHD GT-R shift knob. It replaces the 7AT shift knob and has the correct M-D pattern.

Lug nuts, rad cap, shift knob? Maybe you could find a nice diecast 370z model?

Here are some more affordable ideas http://www.nengun.com/nissan/370z-z34

Red chrome extended lugs would be pretty awesome.

MyKindaGuise 05-11-2013 10:49 PM

You bring me R34.

A couple of SR20 motors would pull a premium 1 week before race wars. :stirthepot:

Z Stig 05-11-2013 11:22 PM

You should've known better than to ask this group that question. :stirthepot: Your car is set up pretty nicely and I am not to familiar with the JDM part scene. Maybe just look up a good Nissan shop over there and ask them where a good parts selection is and browse their collection and see if something jumps out at you.
In the meantime, a Fujimura body kit in Black Cherry would be great! :happydance:

I'll take a girlfriend... you know... if that's something you'd be willing to take back with you.

If you're thinking you're gonna get a good deal on nissan parts/pieces, you're gonna be disappointed.. I went over there a few times, and their prices are pretty equivalent to ours.

dmhenderson 05-12-2013 05:54 AM

Bummer.

In a LOT of cases the prices are MORE expensive. But you'd save on shipping/wait time

Yup, this is true..

Although Japan is very pretty and oddly very quiet for being soo over populated.

Ok here's an important tidbit:

DO NOT TIP PEOPLE HERE. I just found this out the hard way. They don't like it although I'm not quite sure why.

I am done trying to tip. I tried to give the cab driver money and he looked at me like I was crazy although I'm kinda glad he refused it because the cab ride was $240. The bellhop who insisted on wheeling my luggage up to my room looked like I had just slapped him when I tried to offer him money.

dmhenderson 05-13-2013 05:36 AM

Spotted the tail end of a R-34 from my cab along with a white 2012 sport and a really pretty BMW 645i. Got a pic of the beemer but the other two were on different "ramp thingies" so I didn't really have a chance.

I assumed (like most things) it was exaggerated.

More correctly, I thought it was like Europe where tipping is optional but certainly not offensive.

Lol, ok, I know a lot of places in France screw you into an auto tip past their outrageous tax. But when I went to England I was told that 5% tip is a good tip and when I gave 10% to a few places, they thought I was like stupidly rich (I also had 2 iPhones, my US and UK one, so when I took them out of my pocket at lunch or dinner, that threw off a lot of people too)

eastwest2300 05-13-2013 02:19 PM

2 iPhones... thats baller.

dmhenderson 05-13-2013 09:11 PM

Just saw a lowered/stanced ISF with a blacked-out nissan badge on the front of it o_O

chieuxuan 05-13-2013 09:16 PM

Lol, I used the US one for music and the UK for phone calls and texts, and I remember going into a minimart in London, putting both phones on the counter to take my wallet out to pay and the woman asked me why I needed TWO phones, and what I did for a living. I paid, and said with a straight face "I work for MI6." (English Secret Service) and walked out quickly, LOL

I do the same thing. I have my battered old iphone 4 I use as an ipod and my 5 which has everything else on it.

MyKindaGuise 05-13-2013 09:30 PM

You have R34 yet?

Don't come home til you have R34.

Sidenote. I hope you are reading all of these posts with an Asian American accent.

I lost my dress belt on the airplane somehow. Must have fallen out of my carry-on. Just paid $126 for a freaking dress belt http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...06-mistake.gif

The girl at the front counter thought this was all very funny and kept doing that "laugh behind the hand" thing while I was trying to explain.

chieuxuan 05-13-2013 09:37 PM

Just buy another one, don't let the belt fycks your trip up, enjoy

I don't think a R34 will fit in my carry-on.
