Lol I'm over the GT-R. I wanted to get something crazy, but I will have to be responsible and get a nice house first. Figured better house and more modest car would be the best option.

Budget for my next car will depend on how expensive the house is going to be, but I'd say it's probably around the $30-40k range. I'll be looking at the new mustang, camaro, Z, and maybe a used C6/C7. I'd have to wait probably another year for the C7 price to come down. I've also thought about buying a beater DD and just making the other car a track toy, but I don't think I will be going to the track enough to make it worth all that effort/money. I'd rather have one all around DD/performance car that I take to the track maybe 2-3 times a year.

OK, just making sure. But, I seem to remember you saying something very similar about a Lamborghini, too lol.

You'll still get far more out of that class, than the Lamborghini event, for sure. That was just a shit-show, it seems.

Yeah I'd have to make sure about all that before doing anything else. I was thinking something like this or maybe like the Skip Barber Racing School would make a nice little vacation some day in the future. I also want to rent an exotic someday so I can have more fun with it.

I think I registered last month, I have to ck on that, if I'm ready, I'll go for sure, another day to sick

eastwest2300 04-09-2013 02:44 PM

Im guessing the purpose of registering is to do the events in fontana village, if you're not planning on doing of the events, do you still need to register.

Register ASAP, or you might get locked out! Also, you'll get the discount if you register soon, too.

Look forward to seeing you there man! We'll save a spot near us to park.

chieuxuan 04-09-2013 10:09 PM

I have to ask my manager if he let me off on Sat. so I can have a two days track

chieuxuan 04-24-2013 10:26 PM

See you all fgts on May 19th

MightyBobo 05-14-2013 02:39 PM

Crunch time! Just 4 days left, after today!

Got my track wheel/tire setup mounted to the car. Carbotech's are in and pre-bedding is done - new front's, and Chiana (RIP) was gracious enough to donate her organs for my rear pads.

Heading to Stanger's house tonight to get some new bleeding done on mine and his own, tonight. Hopefully getting his buddy's Camaro's pads put in, and new fluid put in also.

Still need to go through my "track box' and make sure all of my tools are loaded up and ready to go. Have a new pop-up tent and tarps, so I'm about as ready as I'm going to be once that happens. Also, got a spare battery for my remote GoPro camera, so I'm good there, too. Now to charge up the GoPro batts...

chieuxuan 05-14-2013 05:48 PM

I am almost ready, just need to find those sticker numbers that big enough

Dang, may have to stop down and watch some of you guys run. I only live 10 minutes from the track, just never had the chance...or the balls... to take any of my cars there. Sure have seen some of the "sweetest looking rides" I have ever seen at that track though!!

I'd be broken as shyt if I live 10 min from there :tiphat:

b1adesofcha0s 05-15-2013 10:39 PM

The houses there are super cheap too. I saw these huge brand new houses near the track that were selling for just under $200k. Those same houses here would probably be like $700k+

Lol, I was never sure of all the rules. I was under the impression you had to have your car track ready to even be allowed on the track...roll cages, etc.. so I never pursued it any farther. I work for the phone company so I'm in and out of there constantly. Any time they have an event I wanna see, I just take my bucket truck and say I'm working on the lines...free pass...lol. Some of the cars I've seen in the garages of Gasoline Alley....INSTANT WOOD!!!

Yup, you are correct. I bought my house last year on a short sale. It's 4 yrs. old, 5,200 square ft. and loaded with every option for $200k. Same house in Md or DC would cost 3-4 times that much. There are a lot of DMV transplants that live here and commute due to the cost of living being so cheap here.

I just might do that and hell yeah I got a helmet. Does that mean I can get a ride around the track?? That would be AWESOME!! What days you runnin? Got pool playoffs in Baltimore Friday night and Saturday morning but Sunday is clear (other than recovering from a killer hangover...Sat. night is card night)

You'll learn everything you want to know to answer your questions if you come out on Saturday. But, if you decide to only come for one day, I'd come Sunday. I'll likely be solo-ed by then, and can PROBABLY give a ride-along. Worst case, you can get a ride-along with an instructor.

Only thing to ensure: is your helmet at LEAST Snell 2005 or better? If it is only DOT, or Snell 2000 and older, you'll need to borrow a lid. We could make that happen, though.

Also, just to be safe, bring a long-sleeve shirt and jeans, for sure. Last time, long-sleeves were NOT required, but it seems to go back and forth with TrackDaze. Jeans are almost always required, however.

Myself and 2 others are running both days (Sat/Sun). Chieu is coming for Sunday only. So, Sunday is certainly the "best" day to come, but both days are good.

Cool, I'll have to check on my helmet, I bought it a few years back for my motorcycle but not sure of the rating. Hell, even a ride along with an instructor would be a rush for me, never been on a track before! Saturday is definitely a no go but I'll try my best to make it out Sunday (hangover permitting). Do you know how much it costs for a spectator to get in (meaning if I'm not planning to put a car on the track, do I still have to pay some outlandish amount to get in)? Lol, just noticed you are from Dundalk, that's where I'll be Saturday. My pool team has playoffs at the old "green room". I think it's called sports 2000 now. Lol, small world.

Assuming it's a full-face, it's probably Snell rated. Look inside of the helmet for the SN00, SN05, or SN10 sticker (likely, SN05 because SN10's just came out earlier this year I believe, or late last year).

You'll get a ride-along, I can almost promise you that. Just with whom, I dont know. An instructor would do a better job scaring the crap out of you lol. Also! The sooner you get there, the better, on Sunday. That's the last day of racing, and you'll want to get your foot in the door quickly w/ someone for a ride-along to be sure. You might have to sit around for a little while before you get in, but you should be able to get in.

Spectator's are 100% free, and encouraged. Come in through the gate, sign a waiver, and follow the signs for Shenandoah track. We'll be there.

Oh, and if you are navigating w/ a Cell Phone, make sure you do it BEFORE you are almost there - that whole area is a dead zone, really.

No idea where Sports 2000 is lol. But yes, I'm there, near Peninsula Expressway. Shadoquad is there, too.

Checked helmet, got a Snell and DOT tag, but no numbers anywhere. Yeah, it's a full face. I'm assuming it's good cuz I bought it in 2010 and paid a couple hundred bucks for it. I'll do my best to get there Sunday, sounds like a blast!! You are right about cell service, Summit Point sucks for that!! Sprint gives you a bar or 2 but that's it...and only on clear days! As for Sports 2000, it's on North Point Blvd. (not familiar with area but been to that place a ton....next to Walmart and some kind of flea market.) Anyways, hope to make it out Sunday. I'll shoot ya a pm late Saturday if it looks like I can make it. What time you guys get started?

OK, you are probably good - it has to be at LEAST 2005 rated, so you should be fine.

Rofl, I was just over at that Wal-Mart getting some late-night coolant :-p. It's about 10 mins from my house at most.
