Just testing if the plasti would hold up to rock chips and not transfer them to the paint, i'll help you peel it off at Zdayz.

i'd be more worried about plastidip than this clear stuff for the paint. even though i have done my friends whole hood on his audi for fun and it came off without problem.

maybe if i get packed tonight i'll tape up a bit of my car. who knows.

my fangs are plastidipped - and they have held up much better that the surrounding areas - if a big enough chip happens i just spot fill it with a new little squirt :)

Cool deal, now we just need someone to dip the whole bumper and hood instead of using tape.

I'm only doing front bumper and lights. I have 3 layers of wax on the car with sealant.

Mike, my buddy in the middle of the pic used clear plastidip on his headlights and it worked out great.

Clear plasti, someone do the whole car.

I went and checked out that 3m stuff and from what it says to do the hood, bumper, and fenders you'd need at least 2 cans so now that's $50 just in spray, $12 in the tape and cover kit, and $7 for the sprayer attachment.

Seems kinda expensive....

we arrive at Fontana on Wednesday and i did the 3m paint defender spray film on my hood, bumper, and fenders. we will see what it looks like when we roll in....

(I get it though! ;) 3M should consider sending a mobile vendor with their own demo car to events like ZDayZ to get the product in front of the people who want to use it, but are not willing to risk it on their particular car.)

So those that run the tape like Sfearl1. Do you leave it taped up the whole trip? Or do you untape once you arrive at Fontana and then wash and retape before the commute back Sunday? Thats's a lot of tape. :eek:

That's what most do tape, ride out, untape for the whole of Zdayz and retape for the return home trip.

I've been saying for years that the blue painters tape people need to make a clear auto specific tape. They wouldn't have to change it a lot make the adhesive the same just make the tape clear. There is a ton of money to be made here.

i wanted to run in it but not for $125 or whatever ridiculous rate they were charging. i run airport runs here for $25 all day runs.

Guys how big is this strip? I wanted to run my G37 IPL but will I be able to hit 140 or more?
