Halo headlight install: Daedalus halos in Germantown MD

Daedalus halos:

Their prices are ridiculously reasonable too. Will post pictures once installed. Oh also apparently, you need at least 5 coats of paint on chrome to make reflector paint "sturdy". A compressed air can caused flaking on mine. They're stripping/repaining mine for free.

This shop rules.

Mr&Mrs 11-02-2012 11:24 PM

Shop? Looks like a guys living room lol In for final pics, they look a little to thick for my taste. Maybe its just the picture.

MDZOwner 11-02-2012 11:25 PM

^op,

Where in MD? Is there a link to a page?

Thanks!

tonybui 11-02-2012 11:29 PM

Please pm me their ridiculous price. Thanks!!

They're in Germantown. I can PM you contact info if you like. Hang back and wait to see what the finished product looks like if you're interested. They're super-accommodating and promised me a 24-48 hr turn.

Their shop is in a renovated townhouse in an office park. I like the thick rings. Paint was still wet on the walls when I stopped by tonight to drop off the car.

The really thin halos look too bmw'ish for me. These look super distinctive and not like anything else I've seen which is a huge plus for me. Again, personal taste.

Mr&Mrs 11-02-2012 11:38 PM

Im curious to see how it looks without the halos on.

dmhenderson 11-02-2012 11:41 PM

I'll post plenty of pictures of the finished product. If you like what you see, PM me and I'll give you their contact details. They're just starting out as a business (they've been working on friends' cars for years) and anxious for business.

Cristobal09 11-03-2012 07:34 AM

Im one of those people who believes halos belong only on bmw's so im not a fan I hate to say man. But hey, different strokes for different folks, I am glad they came out well for you! :)

weiboy718 11-03-2012 09:12 AM

Looks great!

Can I show mines off too? Haha

Lights are done. Considerably less "thick" than the pictures above indicate. I will try and take some pictures today - they came out awesome. These guys really went above and beyond. Don't want to go too much into pricing but I assure you it was extremely inexpensive for what I got which was:

-Baking two sets of headlights

-complete paint strip/repaint of housings and shrouds including disassembly/reassembly of "boomerangs (no chrome visible anywhere). While attempting to remove dust (and a Nismo dog hair) from my lights, the paint began to flake. Daedalus tells me you need to wet sand the chrome, then 4-5 coats of paint before install. Otherwise you will see paint flaking over time due to the heat generated by the headlights as the plastic chrome does not hold paint well.

-Chromed blinker bulbs (only amber when active)

-LED halo ring running lights

-Sealant mess clean-up on both the lights themselves and the vehicle.

-Part-out of salvage lights. They even went so far as to tape each individual screw to its corresponding hole one-by-one. I mean, who does this?

They're using my car in an advertisement some time this week :3
Pics to follow.

Edit: Oh I should also mention they did all of this in less than 48 hrs and they work weekends. Would have been less than 24 except I made a huge mess with that sealant (lol) and they had to spend an additional 4-5 hrs carefully paint stripping the housings.

eastwest2300 11-05-2012 05:21 PM

So much for the DIY thread, right. I guess everyone else's headlights are doomed, huh.:bowrofl::bowrofl::bowrofl:

dmhenderson 11-05-2012 06:21 PM

Not doomed at all. I just didn't do a great job on mine

b1adesofcha0s 11-05-2012 07:07 PM

Been super busy this week. Daedalus didn't take the time change into account so we were unable to shoot their video ad last night. Since my car was the first Z they have worked on (they specialize in G37s), they're shooting an ad using my ride.

I'd rather show you their high-quality shots than crappy iphone photos so you'll have to wait a bit. We're going to meet up this weekend so they can shoot their video and at that point, I'll post it for you guys.

My camera sucks so apologies in advance but here are the headlights:

b1adesofcha0s 11-12-2012 08:56 AM

Those look awesome

dmhenderson 11-12-2012 09:11 AM

The only problem is that I can't have the fog lights on while the halos are on without splicing the wires from the fog lights. If I do that though, every time I take the front bumper off the car the headlights will have to come out too. Wheeee

Couldn't you add a plug to the wires between the fog lights and the headlights.
