A regular jack doesn't even fit under my car. Here's an idea of how much ground clearance I have. BTW, this is an old pic from back when I had plasti dip on my wheels.

Dee what time you want us to be at your place? Don't want you running around with 2 hrs of sleep again. Also an FYI, we're gonna have to jack my car up to get the bumper off, but that shouldn't take too long.

10am... would be fine. If thats cool with folks.

Your car is not that low.. can get the bumper out no problem without having it on jacks. But for a safe/peace of mind, you can have it jacked up. lol

I'm pretty sure I've tried before and couldn't do it..........or maybe I'm thinking about taking the undertray off since you can't reach the bolts towards the back end of it.

eastwest2300 09-19-2012 09:41 AM

Anybody notice any condensation in the headlights after those storms yesterday?

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 04:13 PM

Alright I'll be there at 10 on Saturday. Picked up my car today after the paint flake issue was cleared up and everything was fine. Turns out they had washed the car - 2 hrs later, I have condensation in my passenger-side headlight.

That's the one we ran out of time on where it wasn't re-baked long enough.

So I'm going to definitely re-crack both of them, paint the boomerangs, touch up the nicks and then reseal the everliving f*ck out of them.

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2012 04:23 PM

I picked up the paint and gloves from Walmart today. There wasn't any color in Krylon Fusion close to gun metal so I'm gonna have to try a different kind of paint. I'll try it out and see if it looks good. If it doesn't, I'll just spray over it with black.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 04:37 PM

Make sure the paint you got is the quick drying kind meant for plastics

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2012 04:41 PM

Yeah it's not made specifically for plastics, but says it can be used on a bunch of different surfaces.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 04:50 PM

I'm gonna let E/W do my painting because his hand is steadier while I worry about the baking/cracking and moisture cleaning. I want to get an early start so I don't run out of daylight. Once they're put back together, I want to bake, cool, seal, bake, reseal

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 04:51 PM

So it's just the 3 of us this time?

Blades, you're always willing to take a chance.. let me just warn you, if you paint something one color then try to go over that painted surface with a another color, its gonna look like sh1t.

Its not something, i'll want to have any responsibility doing. You can do it, but I dont wanna mess with it, sorry man.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 06:00 PM

blades - E/W tells me that there's a walmart like 4 miles from his place that has the stuff we need.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:11 PM

yes, that is correct, so what I have, I one can of red, blue, i full black that was shooting out goobs of paint, and 1 can of black with about 15% of paint in it.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:11 PM

I also just cleaned off the nozzles, so 3 of the 4 cans should shoot pain fine.. hopefully.. you never know.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 06:13 PM

I just need enough to touch up nicks and the boomerangs - nothing else.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:19 PM

You should be fine.. with what I have.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:20 PM

Oh, i just wanted to tell you fellas, I cleaned my engine bay, sprayed it down with the hose really good, and Im glad to say, I have NO condensation... thank goodness.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 06:22 PM

Yeah my last light was rushed because we were out of daylight and the PA guys had to go.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:27 PM

You know what I would do, I would lay the rubber butyl, then hit it with a heat gun once you're finished up, and prior to you putting them back on the car.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:27 PM

Make sure you bring that heat gun by the way.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:29 PM

Please fellas, for the love of the good lord, bring lots & lots of plastic gloves...

Already handled.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 06:51 PM

I'll be the sole purpose for going through as many pairs of gloves as I did, it was me going from one color paint to another... BUT the good thing is, I didnt fvck anything up. And for that, I'd rather run through a bunch of gloves, if it gets the job done right.

Yeah, thats what I would do, it just makes sense doing it that way.

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2012 08:13 PM

Went to Wal-Mart today and picked up some stuff. It's gonna be 4 of us there including my cousin. He's taking his headlights out of his 350 ahead of time which will make things a lot easier for us.

Got a 40 pack of nitrile gloves and 2 cans of satin black paint for my cousin and I. As far as the gun metal paint goes, the smart thing to do would be to test spray it on a spare bit of plastic to see how the color and texture are. This would be better than painting and then potentially repainting the shrouds. If I don't like it I can return it and just do the shrouds black.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 08:15 PM

Cool - I won't need extra paint then. You only need about 3/4 of a can to do a pair of headlights. Between what we have and your cousin's paint we should have plenty.

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 08:17 PM

We just gonna wing it with food this time (no pun intended)? I know Shahid only does halal so that leaves like...cheese pizza and/or kebab places that do lamb (love me some kebab). Once again, morning will make this tough unless we can order in and I'm not going back to cloverly.

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2012 08:24 PM

Pizza is fine with me. There is this awesome halal restaurant I know of right next to campus that we could do as well. It's like s combination of a Kabob place and chipotle, freaking amazing. If we do that though, we'd have to have someone drive out there to get it since I'm pretty sure they don't deliver.

eastwest2300 09-20-2012 08:27 PM

Or we can just do subway..:icon17:

5...$5 dolla foot looooong..:roflpuke2:

dmhenderson 09-20-2012 08:29 PM

Yeah if we could do some chicken kebabs with rice and some of that pita/yogurt/cucumber stuff that sounds about 1000x better than pizza. Dunno if we can spare the time though with 3 sets of lights.

There's a place called Caspian Kebab near me that serves halal meats and the portions are enormous but there's no way I could get it and get to you without it being cold/gross.

b1adesofcha0s 09-20-2012 08:29 PM

Subway would be better for my healthy diet......
