I don't think anyone disagreed with you. No one is sure that it's going to fix the problem is the thing. I will definitely post the results.

More interested in the electrical issues tbh.

eastwest2300 10-02-2012 06:22 PM

I guess we'll see what happens. Dude, I really wanna get my parts installed... ughhhh.

dmhenderson 10-06-2012 09:39 AM

D&V has the car. He said there's probably not a whole lot that can be done but they certainly won't make it look any worse

Yup, this is worth attempting.

Attachment 55388

Flat spot but you have to look for it.

That's awesome man! Hopefully they can do something with mine too.

dmhenderson 10-06-2012 02:35 PM

Call and ask for Kevin and tell him that I recommended him (use my first name - David)

Should also mention he charged me $0.00 for the whole process plus they offer competitive powder prices. Saw a set of GT-R wheels coming in powdered while I was waiting and did a double take. They were impressive.

Mike is still the guy but if you want to do wheels or something that's not easy to ship, this shop is the real deal.

eastwest2300 10-07-2012 12:48 PM

Its hard to tell the difference in the pictures, but does it look better than it did before?

dmhenderson 10-07-2012 12:53 PM

Now it's a smooth flat spot on my light that you really have to look for to notice. Before that it looked like a piece of aluminum foil had melted my light housing...or something.

eastwest2300 10-07-2012 12:55 PM

Good stuff man, Im glad it worked out, thats what a good buffing compound will do for ya.

birdmanx1 10-07-2012 07:12 PM

Look a WHOLE lot better DM

Sales@AAMComp 10-07-2012 07:22 PM

Got to plastidipping some stuff this weekend... keeping that blue theme going..lol

b1adesofcha0s 10-08-2012 02:27 PM

Let me know how that plasti dip lasts in the engine bay. From my experience, plasti dip does not like a lot of heat. makes it much harder to take off. Though goo gone still works pretty well to remove it.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 02:33 PM

Getting my wheels powdered next week http://www.the370z.com/members/dmhen...7-gf-frank.gif

Yeah the Brace will be the only hard one to take off I think. Worst case I just sand and paint it again (;

Hopefully it works out okay. Im going to check on it tonight to see how it is holding up. From what I have seen that Brace only gets to 150~f max. I cant still touch it for the most part after a good drive so...idk :bowrofl:

Yeah I was thinking about painting my engine cover red at some point. I thought about doing plasti dip, but I think paint will look better.

Very cool dude! I would like mine done blue and black like the SA55M's

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 02:53 PM

I'm doing lazer crystal black with the recessed nismo logo done in satin white with a red satin "o"

Lazer crystal is a metallic black that has a silverish shine to it.

So it's this:

Combined with this:

(minus the red stripe)

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 05:29 PM

So getting wheels powdered takes a bit longer than doing calipers. Had to move the appointment back to 10/22 and I'll be without the car for about a week.

It'll be worth it though

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 05:50 PM

Yeah I'm gonna leave the lugs silver.

eastwest2300 10-08-2012 07:00 PM

Mark, how much have you invested in your Z? its gotta be a lot.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 07:28 PM

Enough that I don't want to do the math to add up the mods but so far:
-G3 intake (purchased with car)
-DLR LED set (purchased with car)
-GT-R start button
-FI Exhaust and HFCs (ships next month)
-Headlight nonsense
-Door handle blackout
-Door speaker/tweeter swap out
-head unit + XM tuner + Steering wheel control module
-Amp
-Sub
-Caliper powder
-Wheel powder
-Silly crap like allweather floor liners, hi-pressure radiator cap, nismo oil filler cap and interior LED bulb swaps

So yeah not terrible. Not like I bought a TT kit or anything.
Definitely going to buy another pair of headlights before next year's show season but that'll have to wait for now.

b1adesofcha0s 10-08-2012 07:39 PM

That reminded me to update my sig. Had to add the painted brake calipers and the headlights.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 07:43 PM

Yeah I think honestly, most of you guys (of the ones that attended the headlight event) have more done to your cars than I do

I think you'll be right up there with us once you get your wheels done and exhaust installed.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 07:49 PM

Oh and I also bought those black/black CF EVO-R emblems. Those shipped today. That will be my Sunday project.

You literally own 3 sets of wheels; two of which have never actually been installed on a vehicle. I respectfully disagree.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 08:01 PM

Funny story - one of my running light LEDs has condensation inside it somehow and has shorted the set out but the dealership is on the hook for the fix.

My butyl sealant job is holding up just fine though.

b1adesofcha0s 10-08-2012 08:02 PM

I haven't had any condensation issues again after that first day.

dmhenderson 10-08-2012 08:03 PM

Whenever I swap out those headlight lenses I'm gonna have the shop clean up the giant mess 'o butyl sealant inside the hood too because giant globs of black crap don't generally show well
