[Warning] Dumb question inside

So I'm interested in adding a little under the hood "bling" for shows in the form of a nismo radiator cap and oil filler cap.

I'm assuming these are just normal unscrew and "there you go" sort of installations right?

No chance of harming the car unless I do something retarded like open the radiator cap with the engine hot or crossthread the oil filler cap...right?

shadoquad 09-07-2012 10:43 AM

I'm not certain, but I would assume that you're correct. And I don't think it's a dumb question at all.

Romulus1 09-07-2012 11:03 AM

yes that is correct, i have a red billit aluminum oil cap that i got from ebay and a skunk2 high pressure rad cap, plug and play. pull the old off, screw the new on!

dmhenderson 09-07-2012 11:32 AM

There was a bunch of hooha on the 350z site about "high pressure rad caps" being bad for NA engines or non-tuned engines or some such nonsense. Any truth to it?

I feel like that's just horsesh*t but that's just me...

dmhenderson 09-07-2012 11:33 AM

Also is there any difference between the $95 NISMO oil filler cap and the knockoff that looks just f'ing like it that sells for $25?

Also thinking that this is a "no" but just wanted to make sure.

$95 for an oil filler cap?!!?

eastwest2300 09-07-2012 12:38 PM

You'd be silly for spending almost $100 on a oil filler cap...

They are priced that high because people buy them. There's a market for everything.

Just like the people who buy 100 dollar Monster branded cables when the 5 dollar cable from Newegg or Amazon is exactly the same. Don't get me started on the Beats headphones now... lol

Yeah I was more shocked that people actually pay that much for them :shakes head:

Nissan Infiniti NISMO Billet Oil Filler Cap | eBay

Wheeee.

Best part is the NISMO label is a decal.

dmhenderson 09-07-2012 03:20 PM

Spent $50 and got a chrome nismo oil filler cap and a brushed aluminum high pressure radiator cap. Much more reasonable.

Can you link me where you got them, I was also looking to get a nismo OFC and RC. :tiphat:

dmhenderson 09-07-2012 03:26 PM

Oops it was $75 total not $50. Nismo radiator cap was more expensive than the other one I was looking at but that's fine. I will post links.
