Rally to Summit Point Nov 11, 2012 FREE

All,
I plan to attend this again this year. I was there last year and had a freak'n blast! Last year I had the Pontiac Solstice, but this year, I've got the Z. We did the wet track, lots of course time and other activities. If you want to do a run up from Fredericksburg, VA, lets meet up and run the course. I took my daily driver and other than upgrading my brakes, I was just fine. Got to ride around in a 500+ HP Ferreri race car and learned a lot! Then we went out and had some good chow and cigars....

DriveLab is honored to hold a high performance driving event just for you, our heroes, who have fight so bravely to defend our country.

Some of you have come out to Summit Point Raceway and have gone for rides with the instructors from the various car clubs. It was an honor to have you in our cars, and almost all of you had expressed the wish to drive. On Sunday, November 11th you shall have your wish! This is your opportunity to have the fun of driving on a race track, on the Jefferson Circuit at Summit Point Raceway in West Virginia, about an hour and forty five minutes from Washington DC.
Since you have given so much, and all its great instructors want to give something in return, a Day at the Track.

HELMETS OFF TO HEROES is open to only active military, veterans and Wounded Warriors. We welcome you all so we can pay you back for all you have done for us. So bring out your cars, specially equipped or not, or just come out for the camaraderie with your peers for a day of great fun, great company and a great experience. This event is free for all military, Wounded Warriors and veterans!

Whether you love driving, or hate driving“, are a beginner or not, “HELMETS OFF TO HEROES” hopes you will come out to enjoy yourselves. No experience necessary. We welcome you all to enjoy victories of your own on this beautiful safe racetrack. This is a wonderful opportunity for all you heroes to experience your fantasy of a lifetime.
Cut off date to register is October 11th. “Seating” is limited so register early!

Last year, I stayed at a hotel not far from there. It was a heck of a lot of fun and more track time than my Solstice could handle. Met some really great people and learned a lot about my how my old car handled. Looking to getting the stock Z out on the skid pad.

Skid pad was fun. I spent my time learning recovery and the feeling of initial oversteer, and countering it as quickly as possible. If I get on it again, I want to try to maintain a slide.

So you Have to sign up to attend, it can't be a show up the day-of sort of thing?

Cost?

Do we have a list of the planned events yet? Or is it gonna be sort of open driving?

I just registered. All I did was email him/her. Took 5 minutes.

Cost will be evening but the track fees, likely...brakes, hotel, food...all that stuff.

If it's a one day thing, do you need a hotel??

This looks like fun, but I'm not eligible for it. FYI the Jefferson circuit is the same one I did my first hyperdrive in and the same one I drove the Gallardo around. It's small, but you can still have a lot of fun on it. Have fun guys

You gotta be there at 7AM. You may not want to drive up at like, 4:30 AM and then track your car...
