10 am at the ffx meeting spot.

chieuxuan 08-30-2012 04:17 PM

Damn, why not on Sunday :(:

GM_Traitor3.5 09-06-2012 12:56 PM

I should be able to make this cruise, or at least 1-2 of the planned loops :driving:

RandyD 09-07-2012 09:16 AM

updated route to start from normal FFX location.

(note this one chops off the middleburg and lime kiln runs... i'll probably do those on my way home if anyone want to extend the driving pleasure :)

MightyBobo 09-07-2012 09:38 PM

Anyone watching weather?

RandyD 09-08-2012 07:02 AM

looks good to me. high POPO presence on the main roads this morning for some reason.. use caution.

http://www.weather.com/weather/hourb...+VA+20165:4:US

30% chance of a storm by the end of the cruize.. otherwise should be perfect

MightyBobo 09-08-2012 08:33 AM

On my way with stangergt. I'll be a little late. Wait up!

Off-angle curve. VERY blind corner, just like that Jalopnik video recently of that E36 with the 19yo kid flying along, and flying off into a rock in the desert. Randy hit it hot, I hit it hot, and immediately upon straightening out, I looked in my mirror and said out loud to Stanger (he was riding passenger with me), "I hope he doesn't follow me in that corner...".

Right after I said that, I saw him smoke the corner and off the side of the road he went. ALMOST saved it, but no dice - he took the metal street sign out (bent it like it wasnt there, really) and hit the wood fence doing minimal damage to both the car and the fence, really.

Damage to the car includes front fender scratched/dented pretty badly, wheel is badly scuffed, tie-rod is bent and needs replaced, minor scuffs/dents on the side door/quarter, front bumper is jacked and what is behind it is likely a bit damaged (looks to be an oil cooler hidden in the fender). Hood has some minor dents/scuffs on the front. Headlight lens is ruined and likely will need a complete replacement.

I'm going to hazard to guess something to the tune of $3000 or more in repairs, not including the fence.

He's already filed his claim, and thankfully that should cover not only the car, but the cost to fix the fence, too.

This is life and you assume the risks when you go out to have fun like this. He was a newbie to a spirited cruise, and minus being a bit frustrated with the accident, he seemed mostly smiles when all was said and done. He already said he'll be out with us again - a bit slower maybe, but a lot wiser.

shadoquad 09-08-2012 10:03 PM

Sorry to see that. Obviously, the most important thing is that no one's hurt and the car isn't that badly damaged. Could have been much worse.

Yeah, everyone was fine.

However, he DID break one of my Rogue "Punk" beer's hiding in a cooler in his trunk. He lost a finger for that.

:iagree: Glad to hear he's ok. Sounds similar to my first off reading experience and the roads looked a little wet too.

Randy used an old video for that example. Roads were dry at the time.

Ho-ly sheeeeeet.

Estimate came back on the kid w/ the wreck - $15K. I really want to see those repairs itemized out, but something tells me the majority is easily labor...

It's the blue propeller.

Yeah, that too.

But apparently, the underside took a bit of a beating, and his suspension was jacked up a bit. Color me a little surprised, but at the same time...not really.

StangerGT 09-21-2012 07:38 PM

he said his transmission and oil pan took a beating... and his steering rack is shot... also most of that plastic crap thats under the car is damaged

RandyD 09-25-2012 08:53 AM

wow - seems extreme.
