UFC 148: Silva vs Sonnen II - Fight Night Meet - July 7th

So I'm super excited to watch Anderson Silva kick Chael Sonnen's azz and wanted to order the fight and watch it live. Was talking to Al and Chris about it and decided to make a MAZOC meet of the night. We haven't done this kind of meet before, but I think it would be really awesome for those of us who are UFC fans. I think the PPV itself costs like $50-60 so we can split that cost up evenly among everyone who is attending. We can all bring food/drinks as well.

The main card starts at 10 PM, but the preliminary card starts earlier. I believe the prelims start around 7 PM. We do need to figure out a location for this though. Who's got the best TV/entertainment system at their house? :D

Here's a list of the fights on schedule for UFC 148:

Main Card
Anderson Silva (C) vs Chael Sonnen
Forrest Griffin vs Tito Ortiz
Cung Le vs Patrick Côté
Dong Hyun Kim vs Damian Maia
Chad Mendes vs Cody McKenzie
Ivan Menjivar vs Mike Easton

Preliminary Card on FX
Gleison Tibau vs Khabib Nurmagomedov
Melvin Guillard vs Fabrício Camões
Constantinos Philippou vs Riki Fukuda
John Alessio vs Shane Roller

So let's start a list to see who's interested in this:

2. shadoquad
3. XwChriswX

hmmmm

I have a decent size TV, but I probably couldn't fit many people in my house, and parking is terribad on my street.

I'll consider this and let yall know.

Alternately, we could go somewhere like Buffalo Wild Wings, get there early enough, and watch the fight for no additional cost.

Never really been there so I don't know how comfortable it will be to sit there and watch the fights for several hours. Hope they won't mind us sitting there for that long if we do end up going there.

People do it all the time at bars. They don't mind as long as you're ordering stuff while you're there. But it can be crowded and uncomfy.

If I ever got off my lazy *** and met some of you folks I'd invite ya to my house for this. Might be an awkward moment for the wife mod...."hey who the hell are all these people? I don't know but they're here to watch the fight."

This is why I would rather do it at someone's house if they don't mind. More relaxed and comfortable and it will be just us there. :yum:

You've still got 2 meets before the fight to make it happen :roflpuke2:

I've done it lots of times before at Hooters. As long as you order food and beer you're good to go.

Gears were turning but I'll be in DC this weekend and next weekend I have the duty fml. Looks like the only decent time I can project getting out of the house is the AAM meet.

Food that I mostly can't eat and beer that I don't drink. Don't know about the crowd, but the UFC comes at the price of the food. Trollololololol :roflpuke2:

It's for religious reasons. Muslims can only eat halal meat, similar to how Jews can only eat Kosher meat. Most restaurants in the US don't serve halal meat and those that do aren't the type that show UFC fights :icon17:

I can still eat vegetarian and seafood stuff though.

You in to watch the fights Tony?

They won't, seriously... If you order drinks from them at least, and tell them it's due to your religion that you can't eat their food, especially if we got a set on a patio, it would be in their best Legal interest NOT to throw you out.

b1adesofcha0s 06-27-2012 10:30 PM

Too much work when there are actually a couple things on the menu I actually can eat.

They wouldn't make money on his drink orders, since their tea/soda/etc come with free refills.

You can't get 'free' refills without ordering a Paid drink first...

So, they're just going to let him sit there for several hours having only paid for one soda... Yeah, that's good business.

Better than shelling out for lawyers when he sues their azzes for discrimination... :ugh2:

I only speak about this because I've been to a BWW's for a UFC event with a jew who only ordered drinks. They didn't care.

eastwest2300 06-27-2012 11:02 PM

Blades, just needs to compromise and bring his azz to buffalo wild wings... haha

b1adesofcha0s 06-28-2012 07:54 AM

Al it looks like it's only gonna be like 3-4 of us. If you don't mind could we do it at your house? If everyone REALLY wants to do it at BWW then I guess we could do that. Maybe it's just me, but I prefer to watch fights in an environment that's not loud and crowded. Guess I'm just used to watching it at home with a couple friends/family. It's better if you have DVR too. We can always grab food from BWW and then bring it to Al's house to watch the fight, if it's ok with him.

I'll find out and let you know tonight if we can do it at my pad. If it's only 3-4, it shouldn't be too bad, but I'll check.

BWW has carry-out, this is true.

Everyone let me know by tonight if you're definitely in for this. I'd like a head count so I can plan things out.
