Are you having it installed while you're gone?

How does an oil cooler usually run?

Get the Z1 25 row kit, thermostatic plate, wrapped lines, Setrab core. $553

Install it yourself. + 6 qt oil change

Depending on the options, from about $400-700 without installation.

There are cheaper ones out there but they are too small IMO. I would go with at least a 19 row but would recommend a 25 row if you plan on tracking your Z. The big thing is to get an oil cooler with a thermostatic plate. With out one you'll over cool your oil during the colder months in our area. I would go with Z1 Motorsports or Stillen. Z1 has more options but Stillen has the cheapest kit and Stillen's kits all come with thermostatic plates. Also not all oil coolers are equal. For instance Stillen's 25 row Setrab cooler is 14.1" wide, Z1's is 13". and Stillen's Gold Series is 11.25". For 19 row coolers Stillen Setrab is 11.25", Z1's is 13" and Stillen Gold Series is 11.25". So keep cooler width in mind.

Cooler width might play apart in the difference between me and Mike's experiences. I'm running Stillen's Setrab Race kit which is a 14.1" wide 25 row not a 34 row like I said the other night (it was installed 3 years ago so I had forgotten the exact specs :icon14:). I think Mike is running the Z1 13" wide 25 row. You would think 1" wouldn't make a difference.....:icon17:

With Stillen's Setrab Race kit (25 row) I have had no cooling issues on the track and roads like the Tail of the Dragon. The only issue I have with it is, even with the thermostatic plate, I get a little over cooling in the winter months. When temps are in the 30s or 40s my oil temp has a hard time getting over 160 under "normal" driving. That's why I like the Stillen kit because it mounts on the passenger side of the front grill. Most other kits including Z1 mount on the driver's side. With it on the passenger's side when it gets cold I put my front license plate on. My front plate is on a tow hook mount and when installed it limits the flow of air on the passenger side of the grill solving my issue.

Yeah I have the 25 row Z1 kit. Works great for me, but maybe I could stand to upgrade seeing as my temps were reaching 230ish at Road Atlanta. (Which still isn't horrible)

Yeah, that's the plan. There's a place in Maryland I wanted to take it, but I'm not sure Robin is going to be able to do that on her own. So...I'll probably have to find another place.

I might have a place for you.
Your sc kit is the GTM one right?
Will your kit need (or would like) to be dynoed/tuned or is it turn key?

230 isn't bad.
I normally run in the 220s
I would upgrade if I was consistently over 260 or going into limp mode.

It's the turn key but I still want it to be tuned. I have other things being installed as well. HFC's, headers, clutch/flywheel, coilovers, gauges, etc. Who or where is the place that you're talking about? Is it the guy in your car club?
