yeah that's why you see guys with FI set ups running high boost typically run a catch can set up, their intake or i/c piping isn't sucking in oil, and the catch can can somewhat "catch" some of that before it enters through your intakes

here's a snap shot of one we cnc'd at the shop for a GT-R. Except ours you don't need to dump out or hand drain, it dumps back into the block via the very last hose on the bottom

Catch cans are nice. I never really thought much about it on my Z (I didn't ever check to see if there was much blow by to begin with) but I ran one on my 5.0. Should probably run one on the Focus ST too.

Once you do it... it's easy. It's much less complex than wiring. I'm sort of the opposite... I HATE wiring. Scares the crap out of me. I can do anything mechanical but don't make me **** around with wires. :bowrofl:

Khoi any idea if your tuner can tune the 7AT on the Z?

:iagree:

I was super worried at first before I started modding my car. Felt a lot more comfortable after doing a bunch of installs with the help of MAZOC bros. Now I'll try to DIY anything I can rather than pay a shop to do it. It must be the engineer in me that loves to DIY.

Yeah can never hurt to have one!

That's funny. I'm the polar opposite. I'm totally comfortable ripping wiring apart and doing anything electronic because if I f*ck it up, I can go "oh hey that's not quite right" and tear it apart and start over.

I built the AV system on both this Z and my old one from the ground up. Ripped out the stock HU, kickers & tweeters. Installed a double DIN pioneer HU. Built in an override ground to the E-brake so I can play DVDs while the car is in motion (lol), installed infinity kappa kickers/tweeters, alpine 4 channel amp, small 40w sub to fill out the sound in a custom enclosure where the spare tire was among other things.

With mechanical stuff if you f*ck up, you cost yourself a ton of money

Edit: My key fob detection is spotty as a result of my "pro" wiring skillz~ (lol). I'm a hobbyist, not an expert ;)

So anyone running cold air intakes does not need these at all? I should remove them? Part of what took me so long to do the install was getting those damn tubes to line up and seat correctly...

That catch can is gorgeous.

Agreed on this. Not sure if I'd ever get any functionality out of it unless I go FI which...I hate to say, I'm considering.

Sent you a PM to discuss some tuning options.

Technically you need the tubes for the PCV system to function properly. I suppose you could close off the port on the intake tube and install tubing to just dump the blow by into the atmosphere, but that wouldn't be very friendly to the environment.

I did similar on a few of my previous cars and have decided its not worth the hassle to do it myself anymore. If I ever feel the need to do this kind of stuff again I am paying someone else to do it. Might have something to do with being an electrical engineer...
