Depends on the rubber compound.

The best will get even grippier when hot, and will give plenty of "tire talk" and warning when they are about to give out on you.

The worst will practically melt down, get gooey/slippery, and have unpredictable handling characteristics at best. Even a good spirited drive on the road cant quite get up to track-level of tire temps simply because of the rubber build-up on the track, which gives even MORE grip where it's needed.

Those tires couldn't even handle your brake pads on the street. They were doomed to be worthless on a track, sadly.

Well, Im sure you know almost none of this applies to drag strip characteristics.

AutoX...its applicable in a minor way at best, since the runs are so short, your tires arent truly running hot in the first place.

Pretty amazing how much they can change after a hot lap or two on a track, however...

o turst me i know.. all tires react different once you get heat in them... but for what this discussion that is exactly what iv been saying..

the difference between the pss and the pzero will be hard to tell the difference.. there is not a vast difference.. is the pss a better tire..YES.. but its not vastly superior to the point where the average guy will tell the difference.. and not for anything it doesnt look like to many of these people are serious track racers.. more just weeken warriors like most of us.. who like to go and have some fun from time to time....

m4a1mustang 01-16-2013 10:10 AM

Well now that we've cleared that up...

i noticed the difference from the passenger seat, but it also may have been the fact that steve is an extremely skilled driver :|

I bet it's filled out nicely, not much wiggle room in there.

im the same way.. and i dont let someone tell me something is the best i have to see that it is.. i dont jump on the bandwagon.. i prefer to test myself and make my own decision..

that is the reason why i stick with pirelli.. for me i have never had a problem with them and they work great for me.. until the day comes that pirelli lets me down i will run them..

m4a1mustang 01-16-2013 10:15 AM

Aniceh going to Bobo's garage for intake/exhaust install? :|
