When I first created MAZOC I had no idea it would have such a profound impact on bringing the local LGBT community together.

Steve... I just had my HFCs installed, but I had a couple SES/CEls turn up. Any thoughts?

O2 sensors.

Look into the steel wool trick or adding some defoulers.

300 or 200 Cell? Do they have J shaped o2 bungs? 300 cell usually, do not trip CEL's.

Steel Wool - mid grade, place in o2 sensor bung before installing o2 sensor. Prevents most of the gas flow from hitting the sensor, helps hide bad gasses.

Defoulers - small sections of tubing that screw into the o2 sensor bung and place the o2 sensor about 4" farther out of the gas flow. Helps hide bad gasses.

Personally, if you were going to do it, I'd do both for good measure.

Some people pack steel wool in the O2 bungs to filter the exhaust gasses and trick the sensors. The defoulers just back the O2 sensor farther out of the exhaust stream for a similar effect.

The latter is probably better for longevity. I'd imagine the steel wool would rust away after a while.

Cwiz beat me to it. :yum:

ahhh man, thank you guys.. my HFCs have the J bung. So you're saying stick steel wool in the actual J bung?

I've had the Steel Wool myself now for going on almost 2 years, no visible signs of rust or wool falling out the back end. And no CEL's.

Headers myself, J bungs are attached, but I still wanted the comfort.

That demon bolt was HUGE pain in the azz.. by the way.

eastwest2300 12-21-2012 09:55 PM

You can pick up that steel wool from home depot im guessing?

Yes, remove your o2 sensor, (carefully, don't want to mess up the threads), and get some MID-coarseness (it's what I used, worked so far), pack about a quarter sized amount in, you don't want to completely block it, but enough so you can't really see through, and push it down almost all the way in so you can put the o2 sensor back in without having them touching.
