ZCAR Fall Foilage cruise - November 4-6
2011 ZCAR Fall Foilage Cruise Itinerary and Information November 4th - 6th This year's Fall Foilage Cruise will have fun for all. We will have the oppurtunity to drive fast, test are gaming skills, bet on the pony's, cruise some great roads, and see some very historic places. All this in the company of great Z car people. Please stay up to date on emails as some details will become clearer, closer to the date. We have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express within shouting distance of the Casino. They have a free shuttle that goes between the two so everyone can have fun and not worry about being behind the wheel. The block consists of 12 rooms, 6 single king rooms and 6 dbl. queen rooms and only cost $10 more if anyone wants to split a dbl. queen. If we book them up just let me know and I will add more to our block. The block of rooms can only be held a month out so i need everyone that plans on attending to go ahead and call the hotel and reserve one of the rooms before October 4. Just tell them you are part of the ZCAR group. After that date they will honor the rate but cannot the availablity. The rate we were given is $99 per night plus tax. This year will be a little different from last. I am also inviting some of the other Virginia Z Car clubs so we can get to know our not so distant Z owners. I hope that we get a good responce from these groups! Tentative event schedule Friday November 4: Leave Richmond at 10am.... Stop for lunch at ? Arrive at Holiday Inn Express, Ranson, WV Leave hotel for Summit Point Racetrack Race Go Karts Return to hotel Dinner/entertaniment - on your own - Hollywood Casino/Charles Town Races Saturday November 5: Meet up and cruise to Berkely Springs, WV for lunch - 65 miles Afternoon of Shopping/Sightseeing Return to hotel/casino area Meet for group dinner ? We will be doing what they call the GP4 where participants will have an 11 minute warm up session, a qualifying race, and then 2 heat races. These karts are faster than the ones at Gforce for those of you who join us on our yearly event there. Not too mention you can put 25 karts on the track at once! I have also been speaking with the track owners and think we will be able to drive a pace lap in our Z's around the track for a photo op! Pricing will vary upon participation and ZCAR may also provide a discount depending upon participation. The starting price is 1-8 drivers $100 , 9-16 $90, 17-25 $83 It will probably be a little cool in the afternoon so I would recommend a sweatshirt and gloves. Hit link below for more information. Saturday cruise to Berkely Springs Information - Saturday after breakfast we will depart for historic Berkely Springs WVA. There will be plenty of oppurtunities for shopping and sightseeing in the town. Also its a great place to get your "spa treatment" on. We will then leave that afternoon to return to the hotel and prepare for the nights festivities. Please hit the link below for more information about Berkely Springs. Saturday Night Group Dinner Information - This will be a casual comtemporary attire dinner at one of the Casino's fine resturants, the Skyline Terrace. This resturant has a wonderful view of the horse track where we can watch the evennings races. Sunday Cruise to Harper's Ferry Information - Sunday morning after breakfast we will take a short cruise over to Harper's Ferry WVA for a latemorning/early afternoon of sightseeing. We will also meet for a late lunch at the Secret Six Tavern before departing and making our way back to our respected homes. |

As of right now, myself and Jon (ZCarMan) and his wife are going. Anyone else in? Hotel rate is $99 per night. Jon just called and reserved his room and the receptionist said there are still plenty of rooms available. Just mention the Z Car Association of Richmond rate.

First evening. We joined up with the Z Car Association of Richmod (ZCAR) group of 13 Zs in Ranson, WV at the hotel and then traveled to Summit Point Raceway where we registered for night time Go-Karting. Before we raced we were allowed to go onto the main track and run about 3 or 4 laps around. This was really cool as Patricia was able to go on the track with me in the Z! Second day, Randy joined us for the cruise from Ranson, WV to Berkely Springs where we cruised the back roads and spent the afternoon exploring the town and had lunch. Then back to Ranson and to the race track (horses) for a nice buffet dinner watching the ponies run! I broke even after nine races so I was pretty happy. A couple of others managed to make some cash as well. Finally it was a cruise to Harpers Ferry for a nice day of exploring and having lunch before we all parted ways and began the trek home. Both Randy and his Wife joined us again to cruise to Harpers Ferry.
Thanks to the entire ZCAR group, especially Chris (President) for inviting us and allowing us to join in the fun. The track at Summit Point was really fun! The Karting was awesome! The trip to Berkely Springs was lots of fun! The trip to Harpers Ferry was also very cool! Last but certainly not the least, to all the members of ZCAR who so welcomed us to their group, we really had a great time with you all! Till next time! Cheers! Here are a few of the photos I took during the trip. We had clear skies and sun the entire time we were there. Little chilly in the morning but warmed up just fine in time for cruising.
|
Looks like it was a fun time. Harper's Ferry is a neat place.

I even had fun at the horse racing track. The dining area is terraced so you can sit down and have a buffet dinner and look out over the track (the whole front is glass) and watch the races. You have TVs right at the table so you can check the odds. I spent five bucks on each race for nine races. Had a great night, dinner, races, then back to the hotel for some rest before the next day of cruising.
|
Did you win on any of the races??
