Retired my Z today...

Well I couldn't take it anymore.

Having to either drive my Z or my full bolt on Civic Si on coils daily to and from work in DC-Metro area traffic was killing me. So I got rid of the Civic and got a new DD.

The Z is now designated as a weekend toy. :happydance:

I present to you my new DD beast... 2012 Altima :bowrofl:
The ride is quiet and smooth and the car is zzZZzzZzz perfect for the daily grind.

The best part is I can now go rob a bank and then drive away and blend into traffic easily evading law enforcement. ;)

Nice, congrats man!

ZCarMan 09-05-2011 06:01 AM

Congrats!

GaleForce 09-05-2011 07:40 AM

That's a nice DD! Altima or Maxima are on my list for next family hauler. Right now I have to settle for a POS Pontiac G6 GT for my DD duties, snore!

Anyhow... We need some interior shots!

RandyD 09-05-2011 07:48 AM

the Nissan line is really nice. I went in to buy the Maxima, and walked out with the Z :)

gr8-wrx 09-05-2011 08:29 AM

Altimas make great DDs. Congrats!

Masa 09-05-2011 08:57 AM

Thanks guys! I was really sold on the soft, comfy ride and quiet cabin. What really surprised me was the trunk space. You can literally fit two full grown adult bodies in the back or something of similar volume... :bowrofl:

Very nice purchase Masa. I'm really wanting a Maxima right now....mmmmmmm 3.5 sv

birdmanx1 09-05-2011 05:12 PM

hahaha great job with the Altima Masa, you'll love the CVT transmission on that car. You have the best color too, PW FTMW  I have the same one SL fully loaded and it is always a huge change switching back and forth. OMG what a smooth ride, OMG it's so quiet, OMG it's huge (that's what she said :p), OMG heated seats LMAO.

You are now ready for this...:icon17:

Very nice DD. I almost leased a Altima instead of my Versa as a DD, but the Versa was sooooooo much cheaper I could not resit. But the Altima was the much better car.

Yea I was looking at the Versa too but since I tend to keep the cars I purchase I went ahead with the bigger trunk and rear seats for future proofing should anything arise as I will not give up my Z. :p
CVT is nice and smooth, brakes are strong, ride is comfortable and cabin is super quiet.

b1adesofcha0s 09-05-2011 06:21 PM

Congrats on the purchase Ron!

The title of the thread kind of scared me for a bit, I thought you got rid of the Z :bowrofl:

Is it the 2.5 or the 3.5?

b1adesofcha0s 09-05-2011 06:23 PM

I used to have a 2010 Maxima last year, it is a great DD/family car to those who are interested and fun to drive as well. I definitely recommend it

Oh yeah Bert, the Touring Z comes with heated seats :p

Haha never getting rid of the Z!!

It's the 2.5 S package. Didn't want/need another thirsty VQ motor. :p

The only plans for this car are to swap out the base speakers and HU - Might buy the Alpine ina-w910 and put it in the Z and move over the Pioneer avh-p4300 to the Altima.

That's what I assumed since you got it as a DD.

Remember, it costs 5K and you have to change the fluid every thousand miles :roflpuke2:

b1adesofcha0s 09-06-2011 09:22 AM

Fluid has to be pumped in by Dan himself :rofl2:

Hahaha stalker! :bowrofl:

I was in there last week taking apart hard drives lol. School wanted to charge us 110 per hdd to clean... I was like to hell with that. I went down there with a hammer and "cleaned" them good. :rofl2:

if somebody really wanted to they might still be able to extract info. Obviously theyd have to be really hard pressed to go to that extreme. Look into dban, free hdd wipe utility, goes well beyond dod hdd requirements.

Or a high-power magnet will do the trick

Haha theres nothing really sensitive on the disks. After I smashed the platters I threw them in the dumpster and lit it on fire. I'm sure if someone wanted to they could still extract some data off the burned shards though but it would be a total waste of time. All they would get are some old graded exams from 5+ years ago. :rofl2:
