This. I might be nuts, but I'm not crazy. Had to dodge two sizeable downed branches.

Almost did Cherohala, too, but both me and the car were running low on gas when I hit Robbinsville. :inoutroflpuke:

Sure thing, even if my buddy is able to make it you can have floor space, just let me know. I will be leaving on the 15th and arriving on the 16th. Gonna do 2 legs of 8 hrs or so each.

Kirkster 05-13-2012 11:14 PM

I will see if I can make it over there to see you guys...

I will be down on my bike in Laurel Springs NC. looks to be around 140~ miles from the dragon...

Not sure if any of our rides will take us over there, but if they do I will stop in.

Have fun...

Thank you man i really appreciate that, so leaving tomorrow. My wheels should be here today but the tires won't be in till wednesday. So i won't be able to follow you guys maybe just meet there unless someone wants to pick me up.:bowrofl::roflpuke2::bowrofl:

Side note: I'd just go with my stock wheels and tires, but my tires are shot i've been waiting for my wheels before getting new tires.

Ron 05-14-2012 09:34 AM

No problem, I'll pm you my contact info and we'll meet there. My tires are not on the best condition wither but I don't wanna spend money on tires on stock sizes now since I am planning on changing wheels soon. I need to take it easy on the dragon.

Possible Delays on I75

I just saw this posted on our Cleveland Z Club forum from one of the members:

By Bill Estep Herald-Leader
The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 at the site of a massive rock slide in northern Tennessee won't be reopened until May 21, according to a news release from the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
The plan is to reopen one southbound lane that day, and to reopen a second lane on the northbound side of the interstate, according to the news release.
Right now, only one lane of northbound I-75 is open at the site.
The affected area is south of Jellico, between mile markers 141 and 144. Caryville is just south of the area.
Crews are working to repair a slide that occurred in early March on the south side of the busy interstate. The work involves drilling large nails as deep as 50 feet under the road to stabilize it, according to the news release.
Travelers should expect long delays in the area.

Highway officials have recommended these detours:
■ If heading south on I-75, take Exit 160 in Jellico, follow U.S. 25W to LaFollette and back onto I-75 south at Exit 134 in Caryville.
■ For wide loads headed south, take Exit 160 in Jellico, turn right and follow State Route 297 West to SR 63 and back onto I-75 south at Exit 141.
■ If headed to I-40 destinations east of Dandridge, Tenn., take Exit 29 at Corbin, follow U.S. 25E to Morristown, Tenn., and take I-81 south to its junction with I-40. Note, however, that U.S. 25E is reduced to one lane in each direction at the Kentucky-Tennessee line for pavement repairs inside the Cumberland Gap tunnel.

This may make me want to take I77 instead. Oh well, it's just another "dragon" that we'll have to slay :eekdance::eekdance:

sig11 05-14-2012 10:56 AM

Unless it's got worse the truck detour I took last month wasn't very long and was a fun road if you're not stuck behind slow traffic. Only added ~1 hour to our trip to ATL.

FuszNissan 05-14-2012 12:50 PM

Where are my tires!? Arggh...might have to rock the RPF1's.

sig11 05-14-2012 01:38 PM

What time are you rolling out, Lou? Going to run with any caravans?

FuszNissan 05-14-2012 01:42 PM

Rolling out at 6 am central. Meeting up with some guys in IL. and then running down through Nashville and in to FVR. Not sure about the MN. group, we may meet up with them here and head out. So could be 3 deep or 6 deep.

2theextreme 05-14-2012 01:44 PM

Lou, is StlRed going this year?

sig11 05-14-2012 01:52 PM

You guys could meet us in Lexington around noon again. :)

FuszNissan 05-14-2012 01:54 PM

Red isn't coming. He may come next year, and I think SmoothZ will be coming next year as well.

We are rolling through Nashville, it faster for us, going to lexington would tack on another hour or so.

I figured y'all would take 40. Plus you won't have to deal with the I75 detour that way.

FuszNissan 05-14-2012 02:16 PM

Exactly. I saved 2 hours last year rolling through Nashville, and that 1-75 detour just sealed the deal again for me. We did Lexington in 09 because of the landslide it just made more sense going that way.

Alchemy 05-14-2012 05:11 PM

MAZOC Advanced Scout Shadoquad (MASS) reporting from Fontana, day two.

Nearly bit it on the Dragon today, but recovered. Ran Cherohala aggressive in the rain and fog. What a hoot! Had a Mustang GT give me a wave-by.

Weather's been nice, albeit soggy. Washed my car with an event guy, Ross. Real nice fellow.

Puffin a cigar, chilling out, waiting for you party animals. :D
