I found another route that avoids the dragon. Local peeps, what do you think about this? Dallas crew can join us in Shreveport like O&G suggested.

MapQuest Maps - Driving Directions - Map

Dallaz 02-10-2012 02:07 PM

3.5 hours to Shreveport from us Dallas folk. That's probly a good spot. It's funny this stuff is usually arranged a week in advance instead of months in advance lol. So Ron you aren't driving te Z on the way there? That's half the fun!

fun = driving the tail
fun =/= driving 16 hrs PLUS the tail :icon14:

they, wanna invest in a trailer? :icon17:

Ron 02-10-2012 02:12 PM

Don't wanna put that many miles on it and the clutch I got for the TT is a bit stiffer than I anticipated lol. But if we get no trailer then I don't mind driving it :D

It goes both ways. Some guys come alone and others bring their ladies with them. I've brought my Wife each year. She doesn't drive the dragon (motion sick) but we all still manage to have a great time! Some folks participate in all the events and others pick and choose. Thats the great thing about ZDayZ, you can do whatever and its all good!

The biggest difference is the event t shirt, primaries get a thsirt included with registration and guests do not. There are other subtle perks for being Primary verses Guest, but I need to solidify those up before posting them.

There are 50+ ladies at the event, including mine.

Patrick your hand doesn't count as a lady, no matter how you dress it up

If you are coming in from Texas, then get on I40 East, exit 27 in North Carolina (HWY 74 West) until HWY 28 North runs right into the village

That will add a couple hours drive, but it avoids the dragon with a long trailer

good route, better than my I 40 suggestions

m4a1mustang 02-13-2012 06:11 AM

So I'm considering leaving the 5.0 at home since it got to go last year and bringing just the S2000 instead. Might be a little expensive to bring two cars down. :icon17:

How are you liking it so far?? Any mods planned before ZDAYZ or is the budget too tight after the purchase?

I love it. It's a true drivers car. The only ones that have given me this kind of feedback have been some of the P-cars I have driven but honestly this is more fun. The engineers were told to build a driver's car and that's what they did. It doesn't suffer from the same compromise as most "every day" cars like my 370Z and 5.0 because it really isn't designed to do anything but drive. I think it makes a great compliment to the 5.0 (or the 370) because it gives you that raw "driving only" experience that the other cars have to blend with comfort, practicality, etc. I would not want to drive this car every day, so it's good to have a more civil sporty "GT" car for primary use.

As far as mods go, I don't have any mechanical mods planned. If I take it to ZDayZ it needs summer tires and new rotors and pads.

I still need to install all of my suspension stuff on the Mustang, and if it goes to ZDayZ I need brake pads for it because I don't think the HPS pads will survive down there. It also needs new summer tires.

If I buy everything I need to prepare both cars it's going to cost about $3,100 in parts and mount/balance + alignment fees.

For tires, I budgeted for Michelin PSS on the 5.0. If I scale back and put Continental DW on it, I can buy Continental DW for the S as well and stay within my tire budget. So I'm mulling options around right now. I don't want to spend too much money, but I don't want to skimp out either.

Half the fun is in the drive there! In a large caravan with 2-way radios, it's actually pretty entertaining (god help the people who came across our channel on the way down :icon17:)
