Service Departments in Northern VA.
Question,
For those who get their cars serviced at dealerships, I am interested in finding out if you have had good, bad, mediocre or indifferent experiences. Coming upon my first oil change, don't mind taking to dealerships for oil changes, as long as they are honest and straightforward. Nothing worse than jackasses who have no clue about your car.. i am sure u guys have been through that.. Feedback appreciated. Also u get the Z serviced at a good Japanese Indy shop, do tell. -S |
I had my first service on my Z done at Brown's Fairfax and had no complaints.
A lot of guys are also pretty pleased with Chantilly Nissan's service. |

Nissan of Chantilly has been great to me. Had my car for a year and take it there for each service and oil change. You can bring your own oil and filter if you like (they charge around $20 labor).
Their service is great and they won't try to rip you off. |
Nissan Chantilly is great for dealer service.
|
Plus, last time I was in there a few weeks ago they had a red, silver and blue 2012 GT-R in the showroom. Not bad eyecandy to look at while your car is being serviced

Guys, thanks.. appreciate. I checked out chantilly's dealership. super clean facility, and folks there were very nice.

Sheehy Nissan in Glen Burnie, MD only had 1 black one. |

My car just is due for it's first oil change soon and I was debating to take it in to them or just do it myself in the driveway. |

I use Brown's in Fairfax. They have been great. Was there today.
If you go, ask for Bryan Waters and say Brian with the white 08 Nismo said he is the man to talk to. |
Save yourself the money, and do it yourself, enjoy the experience. I did, the Z's engine is a work of art, its truly built like a Champ.

for non-warranty work (mods and such), I have a friend that does good work as well, very inexpensively. He's always willing to hook other enthusiasts with good deals. Feel free to PM if you want contact information.

Used to use Brown's Fairfax, and they're ok for routine oil changes, etc. Had a problem with them even believing me about a clutch problem I had, and a shifter rattle (which I fixed myself...)
Chantilly's your best bet IMO...very accommodating. Also, state inspections are free for all Nissans there (just found out today, who knew?) |

1) They wouldn't play ball on price negotiations 2) Chantilly's entire service department was pristine and the folks there are very helpful. The free state inspections for life is certainly a good bonus too  |

Hi Guys, i am new to the Z community. it sounds like i will be taking my car to Chantilly for service. question though. do they offer free state inspection even if you didn't buy from them?
btw Chantilly's sales folks are really really bad. they assume all their buyers were under a rock. |

The free state inspections are only for those who purchased their car from Chantilly Nissan. One of the perks I guess you could say. I agree that their sales people assume you don't know squat about the car. Luckily I was dealing directly with the sales manager there when I bought mine, so I didn't have to hear: Sales: You know this car has stability and traction control right? Me: Yes. That's what this little VDC button is for. Sales: So, what do you think of the all new chassis? Me: Well, its the same chassis as the 08+ Altima, so it's okay for being 3+ years old  |
Thanks Jay! hopefully, i will get to meet you at the coffee meet.

So took my z to chantilly mid afternoon Saturday for emission and safety inspections. Very helpful folks. Nice experience all around. Had to pay for both though.

Safety 16 emission 28. Pretty much what I would have paid at any gas station.

dont have a front license bracket...should i trust Chantilly with the install...i am worries about drilling holes too deep.
|
I had a great experience with Chantilly sales. Everything was done through email. No phone calls until the deal was done and I was heading up there to pick up the car. There were no surprise charges as I always work with an out the door price.
With regards to the license plate bracket the sales guy pointed out the drilling and asked me if I wanted it done. Glad he asked as many don't. Told him to put it in the trunk and I ordered the Stillen bracket. Even though there is a Nissan dealer down here in Fredericksburg and one in Woodbridge, I will make the hour drive to use Chantilly. I do have a stillen bracket available locally if you would rather not drill the holes. |

As for a dealer..well I had a great experience with the sales guy at Norris Nissan but not so much with the finance manager...Guy was nice and all. I just did not do my homework before hand so I guess it is part my fault but they ended up selling me a non Nissan warranty. All is good now I have canceled but I am not so sure if I want to bring my car there to be serviced. Has anyone used Norris Nissan West before? Link |
