You got the 4-banger or the V6? Hopefully its simple like a MAF sensor or just a bad ignition coil.

I've got the V6, and the last time it was an ignition coil. Cost me a ton to fix.

These are the times where it's good to invest in a decent OBD-II scan tool so you can pull the MIL codes yourself. Hope it's nothing too expensive man.

You can buy cheap ones for as little as around $30. The real question is whether or not it works with the 370Z? I have one that I used on my '00 Celica, but it didn't work on my '07 Saab 9-3. But the Saab used some proprietary bizarre interface, so I'm sure that's what the issue was. If you're still in need of a scan tool next weekend, I'll bring mine along. I'm curious to see if it works.

All it does is pull codes. There are also expensive (~$250) scanners that can read the ECU telemetry in real time. These are particularly useful if you're trying to tune a piggyback ECU, since it allows you to look at fuel trims.
