The real question is did you invite her to any future events? As far as I can tell from that photo she is pretty cute

Also wouldn't hurt to have some more females in the group somehow, haven't seen seckz in quite sometime.

Jenny works right there at Famous Dave's across the street. I told her to come hang with us any time

Actually I've been thinking about working for Exxon after I graduate. They pay really well, but from what I here they like to send all their engineers to Texas for like 1-2 years. I would prefer to stay in VA. Trying to figure out whether it would be worth it. My parents really don't want me to leave for that long, but it might be worth it in the end.

My brother-in-law has been working for Exxon since finishing college at Purdue University. Younger Chemical Engineers at Exxon are typically sent on 2+ years assignments all over the world until they are more senior in the company. He's 6 years older than me, has a BS, makes $250K/year and gets stipend on top of his salary while on assignment. House paid for and just bought another one. I'm following his tracks as far as getting my house paid for while younger.

A couple of cousins are going through the Chemical Engineering program at Colorado School of Mines and one has already been offered internships paying 30-40K over the summer.

So as summary, you picked the right field for $$$, you just have to get used to being sent on projects all over ;)

That sounds awesome! Just hoping to be able to stay at the VA location. Not really wanting to move around a lot because I will be living with my family. I can't just have everyone moving around every time I get a new assignment. If it's just for like 1-2 years in the beginning and then I stay in VA it will be fine for me. I want to get in touch with some people there and see what my options are. Would you mind giving him my e-mail address or something?

I applied for the summer internship for Exxon, but didn't get it :(

If you want to progress through the corporate ladder, then you will be expected to move around every 2 years till at least your (future) kids go through high school. That's how it works there. He just left VA for New Orleans for 2 years and was in California for 2 years prior to that.

b1adesofcha0s 06-21-2011 07:41 PM

That's ghey. Don't really want to do that, but I would like to work for Exxon.
