Motherf*cker! I will not have the Z this weekend at Starbucks (if I come)... I have a nail in the sidewall and a replacement tire won't be here 'til the middle of next week.

2nd - I have to work, but everyone could stop by and see me in Greenbriar. 3rd - How the hell do you get a nail in the side wall? Too far left on an exit or entrance ramp? 4th - Is Steve hosting a burger / Indy party? |

ACTUALLY, so here is the deal with Sat. I'm going to be huddled in my basement (NOT ON THE BEANBAG) watching Brickyard Quals where it is nice & cool. Anyone is welcome to swing by and join us and Deb assures me that we'll have plenty of food & cool drinks.
No RSVP is required -- if ya show up fine, if you don't that's fine too -- we're quite flexible at my house... For those who might, just an address reminder -- 5082 Coleridge Dr., Fairfax, VA 22032 Gonna be a hot one...... |
hey guys, i wont make it tomorrow... i'll be going to VA beach, have fun everyone.
take care. |
Its looking like I probably won't make it too.

Hey, it was a small turnout today but none the less it was great to see you guys! It was 105 on the way home this afternoon and my Z was running oil temps of about 230-235 with the AC off. With it on it jumped to close to 240 but no higher.
|
Who all showed? I was going to try to get up at 6 so I could make it there in time but I needed the sleep!
|
anyone up for PM meeting for drinks?

The wife is away & may be away next weekend. If she is not back, I won't be sailing _/) and I can come again next Sat. ... Mike with the Black Cherry Roadster. :)
|
It was good to get back out among friends and fellow ZZZZ's
My car read 105 when I got near Fredericksburg......and that was around 1:00 this afternoon.... I had oil temps of 220 -230 with the AC on.... Looks like I 'll be looking for an oil cooler  |

After I switched over to redline, I notice that my oil temperature runs about 10 degrees higher than the nissan oil. Its not really a big problem being that it runs at 220 instead of 210, but I was wondering if anyone else noticed this change as well when they switched?
|
Nick, thats interesting because I've run nothing but the Nissan Ester Oil in the Z and my average temps are always at 220. Its just been during these last few months with the heat plus AC that I'll see my temps going up. I'm getting my oil cooler installed soon so it will be interesting to see how much change in temps I'll see.

OK, I will check my oil level again today. Maybe I just didn't top it off all the way.
|
Yeah, definitely check. It takes 5 1/8 quarts for a full fill.
Check for any leaks at the filler plug and filter, too. |

I checked, and everything looks good. I put in a tad more oil (don't want to overfill it), so we'll see if that helps at all, but there are definitely no leaks. |
Must just be temperature + your driving habits?
All I know is in this weather, 220 is my cruising norm... 6th gear humming down the highway. |
It could just be that its been a little warmer the last week or so since I changed my oil, but like I said, it seems to level out at 220 now instead of 210 so its nothing to worry about, but I was just curious if anyone else had experienced this when switching to redline.
I'll see what happens tomorrow... |
Well, just one day, but my oil temp never got above 208 even sitting in stop and go traffic for 30 minutes. Maybe I just didn't fill it up to 5 1/8 quart like I thought I did.
|
Well it was significantly cooler today than any other day for the past couple of weeks. I'm sure it's just an ambient temperature thing.
|
I'm having the oil cooler installed this week so I'm hoping no further concerns with oil temps. I'll keep you all posted. Was at AAM Comp today. Met up with Tom who was at our Gordon Biersch meet last August in Annapolis. He had his GTR in for some work and said he missed our last meet and that he would have come if he had known. I have his number so next time we do something like that I'll give him a call. Jon mentioned someone just bought a graphite 370Z from NC I think and was getting a custom TT installed.

Yeah, but my oil temps have always seemed to be cooler than most of the Z's that are on this forum. Maybe I just drive my car like a wimp :ugh2:
|
I'm in for this!
