Good to see everyone yesterday.

Jay, to reiterate what I was telling you, definitely don't go with summer rubber year-round. Even with FWD it's going to be no good in the snow.

Sigh... guess I'll just have to put up with new A/S tires in the winter and get the Hankooks in the spring... :shakes head:

haha, I actually dealt with that huge snow we got with summer tires in both cars...including sliding driving the Z to pick up the WRX.

Red__Zed 08-07-2011 07:56 PM

why the eff the WRX only comes with summer tires, I'll never know....

sucasa 08-07-2011 08:00 PM

I couldn't make to the meet.. did a long drive to W VA this afternoon. Out of curiosity, is a northern VA member w/ a Yellow base Z who was on 495 heading towards 66 W this afternoon.

Just wanted to say nice ride..

I thought you had two sets of wheels for the WRX... one for winter and one for summer?

I revert your attention back to an earlier post with this photo:

I did, but it took a while. Do you have any idea how hard it is to find winter tires 6 days after a massive snowfall?

Awesome - I was too busy in conversations I didn't even see anyone taking pictures. Much appreciated.

The Continental ExtremeContact DWS seem to be pretty good from my experience so far. Definitely have more grip than my old worn summer tires.

That's the main A/S tire I've been looking at. Much noise from them when you push hard through corners?

When shahid pushes them, there is lots of squeal, smoke, and thrown mud.

Haven't really gotten a chance to push them much, but not any noise that I've noticed so far. I only have 2 of them in the front though.

Hey guys,

Just got my Z last Tuesday and I live in the NOVA area. Perhaps once I get driving stick down pat and have enough confidence on the highway I might stop by!

birdmanx1 08-08-2011 09:41 AM

I coughed up hard in my office when I looked up at the screen and saw how much lower the stock market got from last time I checked it earlier; it almost doubled down from pre-markets (Dow -381). Ouch!

I'm coming to Clolumbia this Saturday to give Darren back his radios and hang with the group for a bit.

b1adesofcha0s 08-08-2011 10:25 AM

I should be there as well

birdmanx1 08-08-2011 10:25 AM

I'll be there too.

RandyD 08-08-2011 10:36 AM

I'll be headed to the outer banks... the radios would be good to reserve for the next cruise... if anyone can manage that.

Al - you decided on that one yet?

I'm not sure, but hopefully I can make it. It looks like Darren's going to sell the radios.

Red__Zed 08-08-2011 10:56 AM

Al or shahid, can you pick up troopers door handles for me?

What are your plans for the door handles? Going to paint them red to color match?

Cool. You should get the tail lights painted too, it would look good with black rims and handles.
