why wouldn't i? they're nice and fluffy, and makes me feel comfortable :ugh2:

Both your car and Kevins look great but I would love to see them OEM headlights back in (oem look that is). The light mods on both of the cars cheapen the look of the car so much. All these high end parts w/ lights that look like they came out of Pepboys. And man up and do a proper drop.

You are so close...!!

Keep up the good work.

When I chose to do the lights it was because I like to keep a simple theme to the car. Almost every accent on the car is red and black, so the headlights were changed to match it. I don't think the OEM look would have blended as well - while contrast is a good thing sometimes (hence why I'm looking for new paint ideas), I don't think I want the headlights to be the only piece of silver on the front.

I don't want to do a proper drop, I have a 4x4, duhhhhhh :roflpuke2:

To explain - The roads around my house are HORRIBLE. I'm surrounded by railroad tracks, and they're all gouged out and terrible to drive over. Hence, I keep my drop fairly conservative just to be safe. If they ever clean up the roads I'd drop the car a little more, no problem. But for now, I'm comfortable where it is.

Buddy, you are the only person that doesn't like the headlight so far, most people told me the headlights look sick (even the evo and sti guys, we all know how much they dislike Zs). Besides doesn't Ferrari 458 comes with blackout headlights, and Z06 comes with color match headlights? As for the height, the car is not a show car, I do drive it, and there's a thing called the speed bump, I don't want to do the 45 degrees turn every time I go over them just to avoid hitting the bumper.....

Hey Phelan...is your Amuse exhaust a little lower on the passenger side by chance? For some reason mine seems to be about 5mm lower on the passenger side...and I dont think that you can really adjust the height. So I am trying to figure out how to remedy that.

Just wondering.

XLR8 - I don't think mine was THAT severely misaligned, but one side was a little further down than the other. I put a level i have at home on it and it was only a little off.

There's no real way to do fix the exhaust itself, you might just have to put a 5mm washer on the driver side to make it match?

We removed that extra bracket from the Nismo model and it seems to have aligned it a little bit more. Slightly off...but it seems to have fixed it for the most part.

One thing though is that the Nismo model seems to clear the EVAP container a bit more versus the non-Nismo models.

370zdub 01-31-2011 11:33 PM

I just looked over your pics from 1-1-11, and all I can say is wow. Your car is an absolute stunner, I am in awe of how clean it looks and not overdone. I know some of the other members were saying break up the red with something but the car flows so well I cant imagine what would make it look better. Great job with the build man.

Curious. Did you still end up moving it?

Hard to describe....but best way to look at it would be to pull the picture from 370Ztune.com.

The pipe goes into the lower canister versus crossing over to the top one...so this allowed more clearance on the EVAP container. I just used Thermo-Tec adhesive heat shield material to help reflect the heat though. Rated to 2000 degrees F.

I did have to remove the heat shield around the EVAP unit though.

From what I was reading...you might need to jury rig a PVC pipe to make a make shift EVAP container unit. The 350Z guys were having this exact issue as well.

Amuse!! - Page 2 - MY350Z.COM Forums

It is a bit ghetto....but nobody really sees it and it is better than a melted EVAP unit. I dont know if you have "wiggle" room with the Amuse kit to move that EVAP unit more to the side....or a complete relocation. I would assume that as long as your connections are the same and the sensors are intact, it doesnt really matter where you move it....to a degree.

phelan 02-01-2011 12:05 AM

Oh that's definitely interesting...so it's been an issue for a while now. Wonder why they never fixed it / realized the issue on the 350z? They could have saved themselves the headache on the 370s.

To answer your question, we looked at where we could move the EVAP canister, and there just was no way to move it anywhere else that would help. Other than starting to do some bodywork on the rear bumper to MAKE it work. Moving it to the middle would interfere w/ the canisters, too.

Anyway, hopefully I have some news coming soon about it. Still working hard on the issues at hand  There's plenty of things I need to fix on Rin before she's back to 100% haha

XLR8SN 02-01-2011 12:23 AM

Well....best of luck. I am sure that in the end it will turn out okay....just a royal pain the in butt till then.

Hope that it is soon though. The complete package looked pretty impressive.....okay....maybe a little MORE than impressive.

Jamaica 02-01-2011 12:41 AM
