Item one is all the way from Canada...a Big Type R Heavy Shift Knob in graphite (not that we see color!)

Item two is from...don't know or care, probably China! Glue Dots!

Item three will stick to you if you are the tin man (right?) but not if you're just a man! Strong round magnets!

I once saw my mom use this stuff! Item three is best found at a quilting circle...Quilt Basting Spray!

And finally, plucked from a life of loneliness in a 'remnant' bin at a fabric store...fabric! Black...but again...we don't see color or care who the fabric hangs out with!

So...Which of these things is not like the other!?

I so totally read this like a game show host... :rofl2:

hahaha! me too! I'll play. I'll go with the shift knob as the sore thumb in this group. The other supplies look like your planning some kind of interior customization like a tablet mod or something.

Glad some of you got that. :D

And what the correct answer is depends on how you look at it.

The magnets and glue dots -were- an attempt to allow an easy on/easy off front license plate thing. That was a complete failure as MN plates are no longer made of a metal that magnets like. So I think I'm going to go get a magnetic strip and glue it to the plate. I might just glue a magnet to the plate but they are kind of thick...but probably stronger. We'll see.

The quilt basting spray and black fabric are an attempt to cover the visor warning labels in a non-permanent way (as I think covering or removing is illegal when selling).

The shift knob is...a shift knob.

Was really hoping the Varis arrival would be 2 months but it looks like they are backed up. The new kit is very popular around the world so I am 3-4 months out. Oh well.

I decided the best thing to do was do stuff on the car! So I finally got my blend mount installed. You really have to jam the leads in to the mirror connectors. I also pried the connector open a bit which seemed to help. If anyone finds the installation less than 'easy' as so many suggest let me know. I'll give you my bits of wisdom.

I also installed a red LED in the hatch. Last year I replaced the map lights with the same red LEDs but left the hatch white thinking that if I was in the hatch I needed the light. Screw that...hate white. It is red now.

My LED parking lights came today. I think I'll wash the car tomorrow and install those. Also thinking about changing the diff oil.

Next few weeks are going to be busy: Friend's church car show is Sat, the following Sat is Madfurther (another car/lifestyle show), 27th is drag strip night, following Wednesday is drag strip night, the 5-7th is track weekend.

Yeah, changing the diff oil. I'm sure it has never been done and I was reading an article from AMSOIL where they were talking about most wear in the diff comes in the first 3000 miles so if you don't change it you're doing a lot of damage since there is no filter. After that it can go to normal intervals.

I'll hold off bleeding the brakes until the day before the track weekend at Brainerd. Don't need good brakes on the strip!

I uh....also looked at my tires today. Yeah...uh...I think what had been left after getting home is now on 20' strips around town. >.> That sucks because I am getting new track (18") and show (20") wheels. But I had wanted to get through the strip nights and track weekend on what I had so I could buy wheels and tires in late September before Z Nationals. So now I need to either get tires for the OEMs and then get new wheels and tires on schedule basically wasting money on my OEMs or I have to bite the bullet and get new 18" tires and wheels now. That's all I can really do I think...really didn't want to spend that money.

*sigh* Lance!!!! Answer your phone. I need ****! :D

275/35-19s for the front and 305/30-19s for the rear. Decided to stick with OEM wheels and push off track tires and wheels until spring. Best part.....I get to really light up my dead tires the weekend! Perfect timing since there is a burnout competition at the car show!

Sqwwwwwwweeeeeeeet!

Funny. I was actually standing in the garage after changing the oil and looking at the wall. "I really should put up a set of tire racks." *took a drink of lemonade* "I mean I should really put up four sets of tire racks."

Nice! Wish I knew how to weld. I'm going to have to fork over $150 for something I think. I might go with a floor, multi row rack. I have a corner in the garage that would be perfect for it.

I am seriously considering such a device.... I now have additional garage space and a rolling rack for multiple tire/wheel sets makes more sense.

Great read man. Reminds me of when I bought my first Z(350, 04) , like you I'm sure I will have one again. For now I need the 4 doors, :/

Arrvaxx 08-15-2014 11:40 AM

I hear that. And asking your family to financially support two cars/6 total doors is hard. The thing I learned is to just not let go of the dream. :)

Got half my tirerack.com order today. Strange because the rears were scanned at Origin within five minutes of each other. But the rears made it today and the fronts should be here tomorrow. From Chicago to Minnesota...not like NY to LA. No biggie, just odd.

275/35x19 fronts and 305/30x19 rear on stock 40th Rays.

Nice! Those 305/30x19 looks great on the stock wheels! Tires look nice and sticky too. :yum:
