The GTM kit would be my recommendation for you. I've never heard anybody say they love their stillen SC, they always give people trouble. The design wasn't really that great. One of the problems is that the Mafs are in the wrong spot where they get a lot of turbulence and start going on the fritz. My buddy has one and for a while his car would surge forward, then go I to limp mode for 2-3 seconds, the surge again and back into limp mode. He had to build a custom aluminum airfoil to redirect the air away from the Mafs. Then he had to replace some of the cogs cause they just sucked. All that for not much power? GTM is rock solid performance guaranteed. I'd say she'll out the extra dough if you have it and get the good stuff. If you want more info on the stillen kit, message Osiris here on the forum and he can answer your questions.

I agree Huck that is why I asked for the GTM quote I just hear its not carb approved so I have to find out that means is far as getting my car through emissions.

Huck 08-16-2013 08:10 AM

Oh yeah, I forgot about Cali and their emissions testing BS. Well good luck on your FI endeavor :)

What's up Zbro? Rob will be building a modified Stillen SC setup for me. Knowing the issues from other Stillen guys will hopefully cuts costs on improving the kit. Will be upgrading the kit to reduce heat mainly. All FI have to deal with heatsoak. I would go GTM if they were CARB approved, depends on how much risk you want to take. I can change out test pipes but don't want to remove a whole kit

If CARB is not a concern, there is the GTM MHI Twin turbo kit option also. I think I saw your post on BAZ.

CARB approved is a concern that is why I lean toward stillen in the first place. The 380 hp Rob told me the Stillen puts out made me think it may not be worth the money. Man one is not CARB approved and the other is sub 400hp:shakes head:

What are your Dyno'slooking like???

Yeah, the base kit at 8psi you're probably looking at 380whp-440whp, depends on octane and supporting mods. The GTM Stage 0 kit is around 410whp (91 octane & stock exhaust) but with better torque #s that is equivalent to the Stillen if GTM ever gets CARB approval. People have gotten up to 440whp on 93 octane/catback/hfc though on Stillen kit.

Dynos can vary. I wouldn't be worried about the #. Focus on the change in #.

Just building the parts list right now but plan to upgrade injectors, pulley, impeller upgrade, test pipes and custom tune to get up to 11 or 12 psi for a goal of 450whp on 91 octane for a semi CARB legal system. A 100 octane tune is an option too. Got the CARB sticker already so. Everything I just said is hypothetical so it should not be used against me in a court of law.

You need to figure out your power goals ASAP and how much hassle you can deal with (popo) otherwise it will cost more in the long run. Need to think about additional $$$ to support the car as you push more HP/TQ. 550whp/450tq is great, just plan to replace/reinforce stuff at a faster rate.
