Something big came up and I had to go home and come back to work, mid day. Said I will return in 30 minutes.
I found that fewer cars are on the road while I work. I blazed home. Passing two cars on the way home, one let me by as I made my move, I had a near record time home. About 7 minutes. Found what I was looking for, briefly explained to the better half why I was home and off I went. I encountered impassable cars back to work, so my round trip time was 20 minutes. Not bad at all. When I returned so quickly, the person waiting said "You really do have a race car." It was great to get out, and get down with the Z. |

Yesterday perfect weather was marked by lots of CHP sightings. Today I kept expecting them to be hiding so I slowed before their hiding places. They were not out yet as it turned out.
I did have an 80% clear road so fun was indeed had. Oddly a BMW Z3 owner was so slow, but did let me by. Normally Z3's & Z4's are better driven. Without going crazy I lined up all my turns to my satisfaction and that made me happy. Let's face it, I am my own worst critic. So I am in a good mood as I type. |
I can offer FTP space for sharing purposes if you guys need it. BC uploads then MT downloads

Picking my wife up from a girl's night out the other weekend, we were coming home at 4 am, and I found myself doing over 90 on a flyover to put some distance between me and a not-so-sober driver I passed earlier. Thankfully, Melody was pretty wasted - if she had been sober and paying attention, she would have been hitting me and screaming at me to slow the fvck down. I set cruise at 75 once I merged on the highway  |

:iagree: but she can drink safely at a bar that makes excellent cocktails out of extravagant items and walk or cab to various nearby friends' places to crash. Or I can pick her up from their places if she wants a ride home. |

Lol! A huge crew cab 4 wheel drive pick up got in front of me on the way home today. Young guy driving.
He slowed way down on a lonnng straight stretch. Yeah. I think he just wanted to see my Z arse fly by:tup: I was happy to oblige him ;) Sigh. |
I went to a Wednesday wedding in the east bay, where horrible traffic exists. I spent 45 minutes in the morning (oil change) in stop and go traffic, followed by another hour that evening. As far as the clutch went, once again I think the cry babies who complain about their left leg are correct in their minds. I'm old and grew up playing outside and walking, so I developed leg muscles thankfully.
It was nearly 11pm before I was back on my normal daily drive. Since it was so late I was seemingly alone on the road. I did see a cop having already pulled somebody over. Since he is busy and I am alone why not exploit the situation. Sorry no camera. I thought I might be able to make a personal best home but I was so tired, I was sloppy in my driving. Because it was night time I could cut a few corners but I was cutting them because I was not under normal control. I backed off 10% and everything cleared up. The best thing to take away from this is to know your limitations. Yet I had one more turn to attack with VDC off. I screwed this one up as well. It is not that others would view my driving as out of control but I knew I wanted to be 6 inches left or right. The last turn I missed by a couple feet and ended up in the other lane a bit. I was all alone but I like to place my car exactly where I want it. I disappointed myself. So ended my spirited drive home. I didn't need to set a personal best, nor was I likely to break it anyway. I just drove home the last two miles at anothers' normal speed, and couldn't wait for bed. I was so stimulated by driving, it took more than an hour to drift off. |

I watched another of your You Tube vids yesterday evening (I actually was able to watch without one of my family members looking at me sideways becuase I was watching car videos). Laguna Seca, black flagged due to fog. |
Quote:
The fog video was crazy for me because I knew that their were four cars ahead but could only see the one. I always stay the night near a track, when I am done if it involves hours of driving home. Sears Point is only 45 minutes away, so it is the cheapest for me. |

Attachment 68931 Hi Mt Tam! Here are a couple pics to tide you over until I can get the auto cross vids uploaded. A couple of notes: THe straight at the end was fairly short and the fastest I got there was 64mph. Fastest time lap time for me was 68.127 or so...first run was 86.4!! the 68 was my last run. I feel like I should have improved more but meh. there it is. |
TAM!!! Heat 2, run 4. My best of the day ;) |
I remember a time when you first started, MT. Good to see you still at it :)

Sooo, my daily commute began somewhat benign although it is always a thrill to get in the Z. Down the lane, across some county roads and down the five miles where I see so many deer and raccoon. Hmmm, haven’t seen any for awhile, not while in the Z anyway. I wonder if they hear the Z and skidaddle? Jeez, have to remember to put it back in gear after I have taken it out. Sigh. Idjit. There we go. Up and around several bends, pop open the Amp. Hey motorcycle guy! You gonna go fast enough for me? I’m running a little late. I guess not, zee ya. Thank you for slowing so I can get past!! What a guy! Zip through sleepy little town. WHAT is that car doing. Gawd. Yepp. He’s going to do it. WTF? You saw me coming…sigh. OK, you leave me no choice zig zag and I’m gone, see you too! Traffic is picking up. Wait on three cars on the four lane and I am out and shifting gears. Gawd I love the torque…woo hoo! Better slow it down sister or you will be really late! Sigh. It’s going to be a beautiful day. Cannot wait till the end of the day when I get to do it all in reverse!

I have told myself for days be good, and do not pass at that one spot anymore.
I was stuck behind a slowpoke and was quite mature thinking this doesn't bother me at all. After two minutes of saying to myself "be good", "this does not effect me" mantra, I snapped. It was seamless in it's appearance. I came round a turn, looked down the road, it was empty, and as the car ahead went slightly right following the road, I rolled on the gas and went very slightly left, and was past the hybrid. I now had a road that was empty. I had a blast all the way home. Moral of the story. Don't be mature. Hey wait! :gtfo2: I need to work on me. |
Situations like these always make me think of this video:
