So need an opinion. Review the video below. Does that driver side pulley making that terrible noise look a bit wobbly?
|
It looks to me like its slipping. Maybe bad tensioner or belt is a little too big/stretched.
|
The belt seems really tight. The tensioner for that pulley was replaced in December. The belt should only have 2k miles on it It also goes away after the car is thoroughly warmed up (over 160)

yea, doesn't look right... only one way to find out! HARD PULLS! lol jk

Slipping belt would also be consistent with lower boost output. If its squealing, that also suggests slipping belt. If the pulley itself is out of round or wobbly in the center, I'd get it off of there before it wrenches itself too much... Are they aluminum pulleys? It is certainly possible for them to warp. Another possibility is bad bearings on the SC, which could also cause all of your symptoms. |
Yup, that was my call that the bearings on the SC may be the culprit!

So........ I rode in TTurboZ's car. It may be 3 different colors (4 if you include CF), but it's so f@cking violently fast, I was absolutely stunned. I admit it John, your car is frighteningly fast in the full literal sense of the word. There was a few seconds after 3rd started hooking that my @ss puckered tight enough to uncork a wine bottle. Mine of course was less impressive given the issues I'm working with, but hey; She didn't break! I do have another video I posted below that is showing what happens with very light throttle under 1.5krpm when at rest. Not sure what to blame it on, maybe the tune needs tightened up?

ugh dude... i commend you on your patience...

Idle surge is kinda odd -- might be a relearning thing. But, could also be slipping belt/bad bearings too...
That's in neutral -- what does it do in gear? |
In gear and moving, it's okay. That is with just a tad bit of throttle at idle. Below is a video of idle and a couple throttle taps. Just before I started recording, the engine died and I had to restart.
|
I'm not as familiar with centrifugal blowers, but I assume you have a bypass valve of some sort? If so, the bypass may be sticking. Do you see some boost at idle?
If not, could also be a vac leak somewhere. |
My wife's Altima did that exact thing on the 2nd video. It was a vacuum hose. I would rev alittle then it would almost die, then idle rough. Maybe the boost popped a hose or a leak on a connector some where. borrow a vac tester from autozone and do a quick test.

Man, have I had a string of bad luck. So my AC hasn't been working and I went to get it fixed. I was quoted $1200 because my compressor was leaking. I shat my self quietly on that news. He asked me if my car was still under warranty. Technically it is,so he asked midway Nissan in PHX if they would work on it under warranty and basically said no way. Henderson Nissan in Vegas area offered to as well as Desert Nissan, also in Vegas (where Ryan [Jenz bf] works). Haboob came through in miraculous fashion. He has a friend who knows the GTR master tech at Avondale Nissan in the PHX area and was able to verify with them fixing it under warranty isn't a problem. Big thank you to everyone who helped, tried to help, and dealers willing to take care of me. F@ck Midway Nissan svc dept ;-)
